Cadee Anderson Rhett, 90, of Gordonsville, died Sunday, June 8, 2003. She was born September 14, 1912, in Brooklyn, New York, and was the wife of the late William Brisbane Rhett, Jr. Mrs. Rhett was graduated from Centinary Collegiate Institute and Finch School in New York City. She and her husband moved to Gordonsville from Ridgewood, New Jersey in 1938, where they restored and resided at Annandale, a working dairy farm. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Gordonsville, for 65 years and sang in the choir for over 40 years, was head of the altar guild and a member of the ECW. Mrs. Rhett belonged to Dolley Madison Garden Club and was an accomplished gardener, winning many awards for her flower arrangements. She was an outstanding gourmet cook and loved to entertain family and friends. Survivors include two daughters, Ann Rhett Ilch and husband, Jim and June Rhett Craddock and husband, Herb; six grandchildren, Elizabeth Hupert, Tyler LaMar, William Akers, John Akers, Charles (Chic) and Rhett Craddock; three great-grandchildren and her dear and devoted friend, Mrs. Taylor P. Grasty. A memorial service was held June 11, at Christ Episcopal Church, Gordonsville, with the Rev. Kate Chipps and the Rev. John Adams officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Christ Episcopal Church, P. O. Box 588, Gordonsville, Virginia 22942 or Hospice of the Piedmont, 1490 Pantops Mountain Place, Suite 200, Charlottesville, Virginia 22911 or Orange County Humane Society, Orange, Virginia 22960. Preddy Funeral Home, Gordonsville, was in charge of arrangements.
