Caitlyn Shores Obituary
Caitlyn Alyse Shores, age 21, passed away Monday, February 13, 2023 at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem. Caitlyn was born December 3, 2001 in Surry County to Arthur Cleatus Shores III and Carmella Absher Shores.
Caitlyn was enrolled at Surry Community College Elkin Center and a faithful follower of First Baptist Church of Elkin online. She was a huge fan of the TV show Supernatural and loved writing short stories and playing video games. Caitlyn was an avid animal lover.
Caitlyn was preceded in death by her grandparents, Edward and Carolyn Absher and her beloved Chihuahua, Cali.
Survivors include: her parents, Cleat and Carmella Shores of the home; sister, Corrin Shores (Brandon Adams) of Winston Salem; her Papa, A.C. Shores of Mtn. Park; her Grandma, Linda Shores of Thurmond; aunts, Diane Gentry and her husband George Rose of Statesville, April Wood and her husband Robby of Mtn. Park, Lillie Wilmoth and her husband Terry of Thurmond; loving cousins, Blake Gentry, Gabby Gentry, Cody Wilmoth, Hailey Wilmoth, Elaina Wilmoth and Cassidy Wood.
A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, February 18, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Ryan Hayes officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow in Hollywood Cemetery in Elkin.
The family requests memorials be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation, 217 E. Tremont Ave., Charlotte, NC 28203.
The family would like to thank the many health professionals who provided care over the years and home health nurse, Kayla Bush for her care.

I am saddened to hear of the loss of this beautiful girl. I had the pleasure of knowing her as a student from Kindergarten and serving as her principal. She was a sassy, feisty, and outspoken young lady. She worked so hard to overcome so many things. She always had her own sense of style and I loved her laugh. I enjoyed field trips with her and was proud when she rolled on to the stage to perform with chorus! She will be missed! Her family loved her and supported her and I am heartbroken for each of you.
