Caleb Nathaniel Stowe

A month has already gone by since the loss of your father Caleb. I was saddened at the time to hear of his passing. I read about the remarkable life Caleb lived from his obituary. I have only happy and good memories of Caleb from the first time we met in 1992 in Charlottesville. I´m grateful I got a chance to know him through our conversations about his latest construction projects and lighthearted storytelling during visits and family weddings. He was enjoyable and always very pleasant with me. He will be missed. You have my deepest heartfelt sympathy.

It was Caleb's southern charm, wicked sense of humor, and hard work ethic that I enjoyed the most. I always remember how well Caleb could tell a story. One of my favorites were the stories about the ghosts that lived in the White House on hill across from the Farmington Country Club. He always made me feel welcomed and for that I was grateful. Rest in peace dear friend.

I married into the Stowe family as wife of Tim Stowe, Caleb's nephew. We used to drive down from winchester about once a year to visit Caleb and Lynn. We always enjoyed our time with them and the family stories he would tell about he and Joel growing up on the farm during the depression. He also shared some poems with us that he had written including a humorous one about a groundhog that lived under his porch. We loved to talk about Jesus and the Bible and how important it was to him. When he had cancer my husband Tim and I got to pray for him and we were so thankful for answered prayers when he was cancer free and he had more years here on earth with those he loved. On our last visit earlier this year, he gave us an enlarged photo of his mom, dad, brothers and sisters of whom he was the last. It hangs in our home and we will always remember him with loving thoughts. Our prayers go out to all his family members as they grieve the loss of such a wonderful man.

I met Mr. Stowe when he commissioned me to do a painting of Ringdancer. Our paths crossed again not that many years ago in Crozet, and he told me that she had raced in England. It was nice to reconnect. My sincere condolences to the family.

Such a great conversationalist. H was conversent on a great number of subjects--UVA sports and the Bible, history, politics. Never a bit dull
We had some very long philosophical talks. He and Lynn loved their family. A life well lived

I always enjoyed my conversations with Caleb.
He always asked how business was going and was very complimentary.

I worked for Caleb for a short time while he and Lynn were at the Ednam House. He was always happy with a good story to tell, and he loved his Lynn! After I moved on to another real estate position, Caleb stopped by to check on me to see how I was doing. After a few years, I moved on to another job, and once again, Caleb visited to check on me. He had a big heart for his family and others.

I'm so sorry to hear of his passing, but what a life he lived and loved. His legacy will live on through his 39 family members who dearly loved him back!

Caleb was an interesting character. It took me years before we could establish a positive relationship. We use to love smoking cigars together and talk about everything going on. He loved his family more than anything and provided him with great joy. In his older days, we reunited a few times and was always extremely proud that we were related even from far away. He was a strong man and I´m sure will be missed by his loved ones. Must be very hard for Lynn.... Condolences to the family.

Caleb, I love you. Thank you for always being so kind to me. My favorite memory of Caleb is that he woke every morning and welcomed the new day.

I will always remember the time that Caleb will call his family together on a special day and would ask us to share a favorite poem, a favorite scripture why we like that poem or scripture. Look forward to having conversations with his family and what they were doing! He Was a great man accomplished a lot in his lifetime. He will be missed:)

I love how my grandpa always called me cam!

Pa accomplished incredible things in his life. He was the type of person that people hoped to be so lucky to have in their lives. I can´t begin to explain how lucky I am to be married to one of his grandkids. Nothing than I love more was the time he took me bird hunting and I got to listen to his stories, poetry and his views on life. He made sure everyone knew they were loved and that God was always in us and around us.

Pa was so full of life! When we would visit he would say, "Hey Buddy", and then express genuine interest in our lives and appreciation and was so engaging. Pa loved his family, and you could just feel it. I could feel how much he loved me and our family, which is something I will always cherish.

Grandpa Caleb was an Old Virginia gentlemen, from the feather in his cowboy hat to his strong accent. I used to love hearing him tell stories in that accent about Ringdancer, one of his racehorses that was injured but overcame and became a very decorated champion. He would show me newspaper clippings about Ringdancer and the jersey that the jockey wore along with metals. But Grandpa´s appreciation for animals extended beyond horses - he used to love feeding all of the squirrels and birds that lived near his house and welcomed their presence.

Grandpa Caleb had a vibrant spirit that was evident in his creativity. He was so proud of anything he would make himself, whether it was a piece of furniture to a fence for his tomato plants. His creativity was very special when it came to nicknames, as he had one for every person in the family. My nickname was Angel and he is the first and last person to call me by this nickname.

Lastly, Grandpa Caleb held a great sense of accomplishment in being a Virginia Cavalier. He inspired many of his grandchildren to attend the school, myself included. It makes me happy to think that we had this in common. Although it´s regretful that Grandpa´s soul has moved on, his best moments will be remembered here by those that loved him.

Grandpa Caleb was an amazing storyteller. My favorite story that he used to enthusiastically tell was about Ringdancer, one of his racehorses. He would show me the jockey´s jersey, newspaper clippings, and pictures of Ringdancer. He had a strong old Virginia accent and the interests to match: he loved hunting, collecting antique guns and smoking tobacco. Grandpa Caleb enjoyed being creative and his vibrant spirit was evident when he would tell me about his latest project. He was so proud of anything he would make from a piece of furniture to his tomato plants in the garden. Grandpa also loved to feed the animals that lived around his house, as he really appreciated and accepted nature. His pride in being a Virginia Cavalier inspired me to do the same. I am regretful to know that Grandpa´s soul and body have passed on, but his best moments will be remembered with the family that he loved so much.

He loved eating at the dinner table and talking with everyone. I love Grandpa.

Caleb was very kind to me from the first time we met. He could remember everything that we spoke about or things he had learned about me speaking to others and was able to have conversations filled with depth. I appreciate that in him.

Dear loved ones of Caleb, I am so sorry to hear of his passing. He was one of the most influential employers and persons in my life, generously offering me opportunities for growth. Although we butted heads on occasion I appreciated his vision, humor, and boundless optimism. He was a wonderful mentor. The world will be less rich without him.
