Caleb Swendsen Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 24, 2025.
Caleb Richard Swendsen, 30, passed away on March 9, 2025, in Westchester, New York. Born on April 22, 1994, in Lockport, New York, Caleb lived a life full of adventure, dedication, and love.

Caleb was the beloved son of Peter and Lynette (West) Swendsen and a devoted father to his daughter, Nora May Swendsen. He also shared a deep bond with Lily and Hailee, whom he loved as his own. Caleb is survived by his siblings: Adam (Maribeth), Andrew (Ashley), Jacob (Melissa), Olivia (Caleb Spark), and Matthias (Samantha). Caleb will be deeply missed by his Aunts, Uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Joyce D. Fellows and Mike S. West, as well as his paternal grandmother, Beatrice L. Swendsen.

A man of many talents and passions, Caleb had an adventurous spirit that led him across the United States as part of a harvesting crew. Along the way, he explored historic monuments and embraced the beauty of the open road. His love for farming, hunting, fishing, and driving a semi-truck reflected his deep connection to nature and hard work.

Caleb was an incredibly skilled custom butcher and carpenter whose craftsmanship spoke to his dedication and precision. His artistic abilities were equally remarkable-an inherited talent passed down from his great-grandfather through his mother. With a steady hand and creative mind, he effortlessly created breathtaking sketches. He took great joy in sharing this gift with his daughter Nora, teaching her the patience and skill behind each stroke.

Above all else, Caleb was a family man who faced challenges head-on with unwavering determination. His strength and resilience were evident in every aspect of his life. Even in the face of adversity, including his courageous battle with sepsis, he remained steadfast.

A memorial gathering to celebrate Caleb's life will be held on April 13, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Wolcottsville Fire Hall in Akron, New York (6337 Wolcottsville Rd). Family and friends are invited to come together to honor his legacy and cherish the memories they shared with him.

As we remember Caleb with love and admiration, we find comfort in Psalm 73:26-"My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my portion forever." His memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.

Caleb rest in the arms of Jesus tell my dad, grandpa and grandma Swendsen my love. You will have so much to talk about with grandpa Ray. I know you will love him. In many ways your personality was very much like his. Love you

Deepest sympathy to the entire family. Some of my favorite memories growing up were in your home, next to Caleb. He brought adventure to every situation. Big or small. He knew how to lighten any situation. And gosh he sure would do anything for those he loved. His unwavering love for music and the passion behind everything he did is unforgettable. One of the few people on the planet who genuinely believed in love and happiness and never gave up on it. I admired that about him. Caleb, you will live on forever in the hearts and memories of so many.
