Dear Marge, Jayne and Jeff, I was saddened today to see Bert's name pop up as I was doing my family history research. I'm having trouble believing it. It's kind of like losing my Dad again. Bert was such a wonderful man, and my favorite uncle! He always reminded me of my Dad, even to the point of looking like him in his later years. He and Marge came to Radnor, PA about 12 years ago for a wedding, and we all thought how much he reminded us of his brother John. The photo attached has me, Bert, John and granddad "Kenneth" as his wife Alma called him. One funny story I'll share with you, which maybe he didn't tell you, was the time he went fishing with me and my dad in Nova Scotia. We were supposed to have a guide, but he didn't show, so my dad leads us to the stream out back of our cabin. We were dressed with waders to walk in the water. Well, your dad walked into a "hole" and went down to his chin. All he had to do was step out, but his waders had filled with water and he couldn't move! After my Dad and I, I must confess, were done laughing, we managed to link arms and pull Bert out!! I will always remember Bert with the greatest fondness. All my love, Tom.

Bert was an amazing and joyful man! He and Marge sat right behind us in church for many years and were such a blessing to our congregation. His laugh and their joy in being there together gave me much happiness to witness. I feel very blessed to have known him, and my love and comfort go out to Marge as she grieves. Thank you, gracious God, for allowing me to know these two dear people!

Our hearts go out to Bert's family. Bert was always a wonderful person, so easy to talk to. Over 30 years ago Bert and Marge welcomed a young couple who bought a house two doors down from them. When my dad visited, Bert would talk about with my dad about US Steel - they both worked there but did not know each other back then but they had fun sharing stories. As time went on Bert and I would talk gardens and trade plants. One time Bert came to our door as the Easter Bunny. When he realized that our sons were watching him out the window after the visit, he started hopping down the sidewalk, not easy in his 70s but willing to keep the excitement for our sons. The greatest thing he did for our family was give blood. Our younger son was scheduled for heart surgery and we needed to get blood in reserve for the surgery. Bert had the same blood type as our son and graciously gave. 18 years neighbors, over 30 years friends. A great soul has joined heaven.

Words could never describe the sorrow that I feel over Bert's passing or the joy that enriched my soul from his friendship. A true gentleman who brought joy and laughter to everyone he met. Pam and I have special memories of Bert when he would visit us at one of our Realtor's tour open houses where we would serve lunch to the visiting Realtors. Most Realtors would come and go to see as many houses as possible during the designated time, but Bert would intentionally "save the best for last" and sit and chat until tour was over and sometimes even stay to help clean up. He was always good for a clever joke and a good story both of which we enjoyed. Our last personal time together was two years ago when we had dinner with Bert and Marge at The Turf Room in North Aurora. Mutual friends Mark and Lindsay Mikita joined us for a wonderful evening that was filled with typical joy and laughter. No doubt that Bert is now resting in the arms of our Lord and Savior and making him laugh with one of Bert's endless stories.

What a memorable man was Bert Nevin! He was so cheerful and friendly to everyone he met. It was my pleasure to know Bert and Marge through our years together as members of Knox Presbyterian Church. Condolences and sweet memories to all who loved him.

Will miss our special friend. He was a wonderful person who loved life, had an unbelievable personality - and totally devoted to Marge. I shared a March 5th birthday with Bert - and we always remembered each other on our special day.
Deepest heartfelt sympathy to entire family. Bert will always have a special place in my heart.

We are so sorry to hear about the passing of Bert. He sounds like a man who created many memories. I am married to Margie's cousin, Roger Rutan. Roger is the son of Velma Heath Rutan, Margie's mother's youngest sister, who just turned 99 this month. Velma remembers Bert as a very kind man.
