Calvin Jay Palmer

Calvin Jay Palmer age 69, passed away June 15th, 2023 at Intermountain Medical Center. Cal was born on September 17th, 1953 to Vaughn and Deane Palmer. He lived in South Jordan on a small farm and enjoyed his life in a small town. As a young man he was active in the Scouting program through the LDS Church. Cal enjoyed playing sports, baseball and football. He also trapped Muskrats on the Jordan River and sold the pelts as his first source of income. He followed his older brothers into the rodeo arena from early high school to early adulthood. Cal won the High School Rodeo State Champion Bareback Riding in 1972. Cal married Anne Elliott on November 9th, 1977. They became parents of two children, Derek C. & Bailey Palmer. They were later divorced. Cal earned his living by learning to be a Brick Mason and started Cal Palmer Masonry. He worked all around the valley bricking homes, businesses, fences, fireplaces, etc.

Cal is survived by his children Derek (Kara) and Bailey, grandchildren Damon, Andru, Aiden and Calie, sisters LaDeane (Steve) Jarvis and Sharon Snyder. Preceded in death by his parents, brothers Clare and Lynn, brother in-law Jack Snyder.

There will be a celebration of Calvin's life at Riverton City Park on Sunday August 6th beginning at 4:00 pm. Light refreshments will be provided. Friends & family will have an opportunity to speak and share stories of their memories with Cal.
