Calvin Terrill Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 31, 2025.
Terrill, Calvin Stephen "Cal", 86, of Holiday, Florida died peacefully on March 30, 2025. Born in Stambaugh, Michigan, Cal was the son of the late Mervin A. Terrill and Blanche Lenora (Quirk) Terrill. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter Rebecca "Becky" Lynn (Morales) Terrill, great grand-daughter R'laisa Morales, stepmother Viola Isabell Terrill, his brothers Larry Terrill and Richard Terrill, his sisters Bette (White) Alston and Bonnie (White) Teller and his infant sister, Diane.

Cal is survived by his wife of 62 years, Judith "Judy" (Spencer) Terrill, his daughter, Ann (Terrill) Nixon of Maryville, Tennessee, son Michael "Mike" Terrill of New Port Richey, Florida, his grandchildren, Elizabeth, Carmen, Amanda, Steven, Douglas, Aurelian, Freya, Christina, Sheena, and Laverna Jr., and numerous great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his beloved brothers and sisters, Ronald (Patricia) Terrill, Charles (Joanne) White, Robert (Terry) Terrill, Jean (Michael) Etherton, Joann (Dean) Silsby, nieces and nephews, cousins, and many dear friends. He will be missed very much by his devoted pup Butch, who agrees with Cal's sentiment that a home is not a home without a dog.

After Cal's service in the United States Air Force, he met Judy while working for her father's phone company as a lineman in Peculiar, Missouri. The young couple moved to Green Bay, Wisconsin where Cal continued his career in refrigeration from his skills learned in the military. He then founded Terrill Refrigeration in Neenah, Wisconsin.

Cal was always fascinated with improving and modifying any and all gadgets, usually with great success; his family called these improvements Cal Tech. Nothing new and no gifts were safe from being improved, even as recent as his last Christmas. Every bit of material, small and large, had possibilities for a project. He did not like lost potential and would occasionally dive a dumpster.

He was a man of unfailing even temper, steadfast dependability, and strong work ethic. For Cal, going to an appointment meant being there as early as possible. He was loathe to waste anyone's time by being late and did not want to be late by not planning for delays. He treated everyone he met as a fellow human with value and was not one to judge another. He was most known for his honesty, though he was not one to give unwanted advice or tell people how to live. He had a very high level of integrity and could not abide in any way to do anything that was against his conscience.

In lieu of flowers, he asked for memorial contributions in his name to be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Per Cal's request, his memorial service will be when Judy eventually joins him.
