Jensen, Camille McLean Anderson
Camille McLean Anderson Jensen died on December 18 of natural causes at her residence in Darien, Connecticut. She was 95.
Born on December 14, 1919, in Holly Springs, Mississippi, Camille was the daughter of Percy Harmon and Camille McLean Anderson. Her family later moved to Memphis, Tennessee, where Camille attended Miss Hutchison's School, graduating in the class of 1937. She went on to Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, Virginia, graduating in 1941. She was Maid of Cotton at the 1942 Memphis Cotton Carnival and in 1948 she married Frode Jensen, a physician and then Associate Dean of the University of Colorado Medical School and settled in Denver, Colorado.
In 1950 she moved to Riverdale, New York, where she raised her family. She served on the boards of the Parent Teachers Association at the Riverdale Country School, the Girl Scouts Association of Greater New York and the Riverdale Yacht Club and was a founding member of the Board of Directors of Wave Hill in Riverdale. She was a Deacon at the Riverdale Presbyterian Church and a member of the Shakespeare Club and the Cosmopolitan Club in New York City. On weekends she and Frode enjoyed their country home at the Gipsy Trail Club in Carmel, New York. After her husband's death in 1973, Camille enjoyed a successful career as a realtor in Riverdale with Robert E. Hill, Inc. In 1987, she moved to New Canaan, Connecticut, where she lived for 25 years and was a longtime member of the Darien Community Association and the Country Club of New Canaan.
Admired for her infectious laugh and vivacious manner, Camille loved her family and many friends. She enjoyed reading and travelling the world and going to the theater. In her younger days she golfed and fished and shot with her husband, but her experimentation with skiing was short-lived. Thinking back recently, she said proudly, "I was an original snow bunny".
Camille was predeceased by her husband, Frode, and is survived by her son, Frode (Skip) and his wife, Kitty, of Park City, UT, and their three children, Christian McLean, Catherine Spotswood Hall, and Henry Carter Jensen, her daughter, Camille (Cissie) Douglas of Manhattan, and her two sons, Matthew St. John Douglas and Alexander Jensen Douglas, and her son Peter, of Phoenixville, Pennsylvania.
Arrangements are being handled by Edward Lawrence Funeral Home in Darien, CT. Funeral services will be private. Camille will be interred in the Hamilton College Cemetery, Clinton, NY, where a memorial service next spring will be held. Contributions in Camille's memory can be made to the Frode and Camille Jensen Scholarship Fund at Hamilton College, 198 College Hill Road, Clinton, NY 13323.

Dear Jensens,
I am so very sorry to learn about your mother. She certainly will be remembered as a very kind, thoughtful, and gracious lady. She always had an encouraging smile and hug for me. She made me feel welcome in your house in Riverdale, Gipsy Trail, and wherever we went skiing together. I am sorry I only had a phone call with her during the past few years. My thoughts are certainly with you.
With deepest sympathy,
Peter Thacher & Sarah Sherbrooke
