l Just came across this tribute to Cam by accident this evening...no-one could ever forget Cam Lane. I worked for Fred Weber from early 1964 through 1965 at CFTK Radio/TV as his secretary and sometime copy writer. Cam was our chief radio announcer and TV "star" and my very favourite memory of those days was when the Skeena River was flooding and Cam played the record by Johnny Cash of "How High's the Water Mama". Fred Weber was not pleased. I cannot remember this occasion without laughing, sorry folks. I remember John McAllister, Pat White, Pat Davy, Wayne Seabrook, Hugh (our tv news anchor), our curly headed engineer, (who would help Cam sign on after one of those tough nights), so many great memories. I can still hear Cam's voice in my head, also John's, It was the most memorable work experience I ever had. Imagine -- a transmitter on the mountaintop only accessible by helicopter!

Cam was very inspiring to me as a new operator at CHQM-FM in the 1980's. It was great to meet a radio personality with his great stories and life experience at that stage in my career, and he seemed happy to have someone who wanted to hear what he had to say.

To the man whose voice ignited my love of voice acting, who drew me into the world of analyzing media, and set me on the path of my favorite hobby. I may not have known you personally, but I hope that the incalculable happiness you have brought into my life is but a fraction of what awaits you in your afterlife.

I just happened to learn of the loss of Cam. My regrets to all family and friends who stayed close throughout the years. He touched my life at a time when we were both "between gigs" and working at CHQM-AM&FM during the mid-70's. I usually had the night shift and so there was only a skeleton crew on most evenings. What I remember most is how much fun Cam brought into every situation. He made us all laugh - and all the time! He was crazy-funny and the best co-worker and supporter. He had a way of making the serious not so serious. Thanks for the memories. I will treasure them forever.

Dale and I knew Cam professionally for some 30+ years. Cam worked with Dale tirelessly on union affairs in helping to bring work and benefits for actors to BC. He always brought a smile and calm presence into the recording booth. His bright presence in this world will always be missed. We are so sorry for your loss.

I had the pleasure of working with Cam scores of times over the past 20+ years. Blessed with a wonderful voice and always a true professional. But more importantly he was a very gracious man always greeted me with the warmest smile and all the time in the world to chat. Never a complaint about a single thing, never an unkind word about anyone. You'll be missed, Cam Lane. RIP, friend.
Heartfelt condolences to Cam's family from myself and all my colleagues at KOKO Productions.

Cam was the morning man at CFTK Terrace when I began my broadcasting career on Feb 3, 1964. I worked with Cam for several years. He was always a patient and effective coach, a man of good humour and a great talent. I well remember his passion for "getting it right" with commercial voice tracks - reworking, re-doing until he felt it was his best. I know at that time he aspired to find a way to be the voice talent on national commercials, and of course he did. The TK gang in those days contributed to fond memories and made some great friendships. RIP Cam.

Cam and I were good friends when we both worked as announcers on CFPR, the CBC AM station in Prince Rupert, in the summer of 1972. The day that the "Over the Rainbow" violin instrumental version by Papa John Creach arrived at the station, I played it for him, and he ran off with it into the Production Studio and sung his lungs out to it. Who knew he could sing? None of us did.

Dear Diane, DeeDee, Geoff, Tisha and Randy and your familes,
We first met Cam in Terrace, BC when he worked at CFTK Radio/Television. Those were the days when everything was live, and laughter was heard almost as much as the news. Over the years, we met a few times, and were always proud when we saw him or heard his voice on commercials. We have fond memories of Cam, and send our condolences to you all.
Most sincerely, Art Bates, Russ and Margo Froese

We have many great memories of working and partying with Cam aka Mr. Krause in the 60s at CFTK in Terrace when we were all much younger! We lost contact but in later years in Vancouver, we often heard his familiar voice on radio and TV commercials or would recognize him in a local movie shoot so we knew he had a busy career. We are so sorry to hear of Cam's passing and extend our condolences to his family. With our love,

I was so saddened to hear of Cam's passing. We worked together for over 6 years at CFTK in Terrace, B.C. We were great friends and I always felt was a great talent. We did many appearences together on radio and TV as well as the Terrace Little Theater. My memories of Cam, Jack White, Gord Leighten, Keith Tutt, Art and Frankie Bates,Fred Weber, Pat Frank Jack's wife, Pat Davy, Wayne Seabrook,my brother Dan, Marg, Carol, and so many more who I worked with in the sixties. I know I'm forgetting some and I apologise. But my memories of Cam are great! I have so many stories, with not enough here to list, so rest well my friend, and ask the golf gods to look down on my game and send devine help. My thoughts and prayers are with your family. The were always your priority. Love from the McAllister family! John.

I also worked with Cam at CHQM/QM-FM in the late 1970's, when he was working in the newsroom "between movie gigs" as Andy Walsh said (I was in Engineering). I was always tickled to see him pop up on X-files or whatever movie was being shot in town in later years... just like getting a postcard from Cam! Always friendly; just a great guy to know!
Best wishes to all,
Dan Roach

Diane and extended family, a great loss who no doubt will be missed by all who knew Cam and worked with him.
I had that pleasure of working with him at CHQM-AM&FM way back when, as he filed in his time between movie shoots. Also my wife and I had the pleasure of breaking bread with Cam and wife Diane on several occasions and really ended their company Always a smile on both their faces, just great company.
Best wishes to all.

Affectionately known by this particular neighbour as "Hambone", Cam was such a kind, caring and outstandingly funny and great friend to me, my wife at the time, Kathleen and our children, Shannon and Serena. Cam had a razor sharp mind and the wit to match, endless jokes and countless voices. I learned more from Cam at the driving range and on the course than just about playing golf. I regret that I fell out of contact with Cam (and Diane) in the latter years. My bad. Rest easy Hambone.

I remember 'Cam' very well. I worked with him a few times on commercial voiceovers here in Vancouver. I also remember when he worked at CFTK television in Terrace/Kitimat in the early sixties. His children's character of Mr. Krause (Santa's German Elf) was particularly memorable. A true gentleman. May he rest in peace.
