Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 13, 2024.
Candace Fitzgerald Flynn, aged 63, passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 27, 2024, in Sacramento, CA after a long illness.

Born on September 25, 1961, in Evansville, IN, Candace graduated from Maria High School in Chicago, IL and later pursued higher education when the family moved to California, at American River College, Sacramento, where she obtained a degree in Culinary Arts.

Candace followed her lifelong passion for cooking by dedicating her career to serving as a personal chef for senior citizens in her local community. Her work not only showcased her culinary skills but also her deep commitment to enhancing the lives of the elderly through thoughtful, personalized meal preparations.

She is survived by her husband, John Thomas Flynn of Washington, DC; daughter, Kathryn Marcella Paulette of Olney, MD; son, Joseph Fitzgerald Flynn of Chicago, IL; sisters, Kathi Gasparino of Chicago, IL; and Roberta Griffin of Sweetwater, TN. Candace also leaves behind many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert J. Fitzgerald, and mother, Catherine "Ann" Fitzgerald, née Sorich.

Candace was remembered by family and friends at a memorial reception last week (November 9, 2024) in Chicago. Her life was marked by her devotion to her family, friends, and her career, which left a lasting impact on all who knew her, particularly those she grew up with in the Bridgeport community on Chicago's South Side.
