Candi Sue Woods 1969-2022 Candi Sue Woods, age 53, of rural Essex, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at her home. Candi was born December 6, 1969, in Liberal, Kansas the daughter of Jerry Lee and Marian (Heffner) Potter. She lived in Oklahoma until 6th grade when the family moved to Red Oak and later Essex. Candi graduated from Essex High School in 1988. Through the years she worked at RO Mech, Gits Manufacturing, Garden View Care Center and Empire Construction. She was united in marriage to Jason Birt. One child, Marcus, was born to this union. Later, she married Jason Woods. One child, Austin, was born to this union. Candi enjoyed gardening, cooking and reading. Preceding her in death was her father: Jerry Potter. Survivors include her sons: Marcus Birt and wife Rachael of rural Essex, Iowa and Austin Woods and significant other Alexis Hawk of Shenandoah, Iowa; grandchildren: Easton, Maverick and Baker Birt; mother: Marian Potter of Essex, Iowa; sister: Lorrie Housh and husband Tim of Red Oak, Iowa; niece: Ashley Housh and husband Paul of Omaha, Nebraska; nephew: Justin Housh and significant other Megan of Red Oak, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, January 7, 2023 at Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Red Oak. Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM Friday, January 6, 2023 at Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the family. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
