The Flower Festival at his beloved Winchester Cathedral
Judith Paterson

Fond memories of a loving Uncle with an amazing sense of humour.
He wrote a cycle of 8 nursery songs to celebrate my birth and was passionate about his family and its history.
I have been deeply touched by the many, many people who counted him as a friend and a mentor.

Wonderful man and very supportive friend for many years especially when I worked at the palace.I shall always remember him fondly. I wrote him a poem once. I was perhaps 17. As follows
The silence of the soul
Bathed in glorious light
Hears half remembered voices
And visions merge with sight
Time becomes matrix and visions merge with sight
But there's no one there to here me in the shadows of the night.
Mirror mirrors mirror
Melancholy flight
Magnificent omnipotence of brightness upon bright.
I loved you in the morning
I love you more still now
And in the morning of eternity.
