Caren Davis Obituary

Caren Clare Davis, 50, passed away Friday, May 26, 2017. Celebration of Life: 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 31, at Keller United Methodist Church, 1025 Johnson Road in Keller. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 30, at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home, 5725 Colleyville Blvd. in Colleyville. Memorials: To be provided at the funeral or upon request. Clare was born Oct. 28, 1966, in Houston, Texas, to John and Marsha Nelson. She was raised in Clear Lake, Texas, where she made many friends - many of whom remained so until her death. In 1985, Clare graduated from Clear Creek High School. She attended TCU for two years before a medical situation forced her to transfer to UT Tyler, where she earned a degree in marketing. While at TCU, Clare was very active in Zeta Tau Alpha, developing deep bonds of friendship that she treasured throughout her life. Upon graduation, Clare was employed by Communications Strategies, Inc., and later by MLink Technologies, Inc. She was valued by her clients and fellow employees for her professionalism, drive and friendship. In December 1990, Clare met her husband, John, by chance while living in nearby apartments; they married April 23, 1993. The couple initially lived in Watauga and later made their home in Keller. Clare and John were blessed with a baby girl, Caitlin Christine, through adoption on Nov. 29, 2001. Caitlin was truly the love of Clare's life. Whenever Clare spoke of Caitlin, her love was reflected in every word. Both as a couple and later as a family, the Davises enjoyed travelling, cooking, and just being together. One amazing vacation took them in their small aircraft to Toronto, Mackinac Island, and Chicago. For many years, they made an annual trip to Big Sky, Mont., making fond memories to be treasured for a lifetime. Clare was very involved in Caitlin's schools, volunteering alongside teachers and administrators. The two of them were also actively involved in the National Charity League. Faith is important to the Davis family. Clare was active at White's Chapel United Methodist Church and more recently at Keller UMC — teaching Sunday School and confirmation classes, as well as participating actively in the growth and lives of church members and the community. Clare's favorite hobby was scrapbooking -- the perfect outlet for her creativity and desire to preserve all the memories that were precious to her. In 2011, Clare was diagnosed with breast cancer. Despite surgery and chemo, the cancer recurred in October 2015. Throughout the journey, husband John was by her side, diligently monitoring medical information, medications, and changing conditions. John's Caring Bridge posts were read faithfully by legions of friends. One of Clare's proudest moments was completing the 2012 Susan G. Komen 3-Day Walk in DFW. She managed to walk 60 miles in three days -- just a year after battling breast cancer. It was an amazing feat that John will cherish for a very long time. One word universally describes Clare - LOVE. Clare was beloved by all who knew her. Survivors: Husband of 24 years, John; daughter, Caitlin, 15; parents, John and Marsha Nelson of Troup; brother and sister-in-law, Chandler and Jill Nelson of Tyler; mother-in-law, Bettye Davis of Irving; sister-in-law, Dana Davis-Bailey of Irving; and nephews, Ben Bailey, Wyle Nelson, and Colton Nelson.

Marsha and John,
Clare was adored by my daughter Rebecca Beeth Lowe as soon as they became roommates at TCU and they always kept in touch, even long distance. Although not blood kin, we considered her family through Don's cousins Bob and Kay Martin. This picture is from last fall when she and her family went to see Rebecca's and Kuba's concert when they were near Fort Worth. Becky keeps this picture on her Facebook page. She smiles and cries when she looks at it.
I'm sure you will too. God bless you and John and Caitlin.

Clare was a professional colleague and friend through our involvement in ATD (formerly ASTD). She leaves an amazing legacy in terms of her loyalty and commitment to others - her family certainly, her faith community, her work and her community service endeavors. Clare's passing is a huge, huge loss. I take comfort in knowing she is now in place where there is no more cancer, no more pain and no more tears. Our loss is her incredible gain and what a blessing that is. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

Clare was so beautiful inside and out. We met the very first day we both joined NCL. We became immediate friends and went on to work together on committees with NCL. Our friendship grew to enjoy many lunches just the two of us sharing stories, laughs, and just talking for hours. She was my friend and such a good soul. I will miss her forever. Praying for peace and strength for John and Caitlin

I had the privilege of knowing Clare in highschool. She always had a smile on her face and she was one of the sweetest people I have ever known! I know she is in Heaven and is truly an angel,as she was on this earth. My heart aches for her family that has been left behind. I will be praying for them and praying for God to give them strength but also joy in knowing they will be reunited one day!

I work with JJ and have known Clare for years through National Charity League. She was over-the-top creative and always had one of the best decorated tables at the Mother-Daughter Tea, complete with real flowers. Even while battling cancer, Clare had such optimism and joy. My sincerest condolences to JJ and their daughter at the loss of such a wonderful human being, mother and wife.

A beautiful tribute to a beautiful and treasured friend. I will miss Clare every day, but find peace in knowing that she is at home in heaven. Grateful for Clare and the years of friendship, laughter, and experiences we have enjoyed together - all beautiful gifts from God. John, Caitlin, family, and friends, in the days and weeks ahead, I will continue to pray for strength, peace, and comfort for each of you. Much love.

I worked with Clare 22 years ago at CSI. Then, later moved to Keller where I would run into her in various places 1-2 times a year. She was a friend I could always immediately reconnect with and pick up where we'd left off no matter how long it was between visits. She listened more than she spoke. She was so generous and kind. Her sweet yet spunky spirit will certainly be missed.
