A number of years ago I had the pleasure of interviewing General Randall for The National Museum of the Pacific War. It was indeed an honor to visit and record the story of this honorable man. Rest in Peace General.

Kim, I did not know Carey except through your wonderful stories of him. He sounded as if he was a great, great man and one who I wished I had had the privilege of knowing. You were a truly dedicated friend to him.

We are thinking of you and praying that you will be strengthened by the sense of God's presence with you. We are particularly praying for Cameron at this time.

He was a true hero and a leader of men. The men who served with him in WWII loved him and many
thought that he saved their lives by disobeying a direct order to send them on a nite mission on Iwo Jima.
He was later awarded a Silver Star for that act.
He was a true friend and will be missed.

Knowing The General was a privilege. His life was the hallmark of a Marine officer, and exemplary as a true gentleman in the civilian world. Carey's high personal standards and conduct inspired all about him, and his death is a loss to all who knew him. His passing marks the loss of one of America's best, though unsung, pariots and citizens.

Carey Randall lived a long, meaningful life, full of incredible accomplishments and yet he was so modest about all of them. He was a gentleman in all aspects of his life - with a gentle soul. A true Marine in his stance, his principles, his life.
We begged him to write his memoirs many times and he always declined -he used to say, "It has all been told before by someone else, why would they like to read the same stories from me?" - but I am sure many would have enjoyed reading about his life - we so enjoyed his many stories and anecdotes as a war hero, his Washington years, then his new career as a trial lawyer... What an interesting life he had! It was such a privilege to have worked with Carey Randall during his "lawyer years." It gave me the chance to really know one the brightest, kindest, most generous persons there ever was. The General will be missed and remembered for a long, long time.
