Dear Maragaret, Lily, Will and Romy,
I knew Carl as a child, we went to the same school. His Dad George is a dear, much loved and loyal friend to me and my family and has been a huge support to me since I lost my Dad. My heart breaks for you all as a family. Sending love from Maesteg xxx

Thanks for 40 years of friendship mate, never by distance. And in the end the love you take is equal to the love you make.

Our deepest condolences from everyone at Screenrights, Carl's workplace in Sydney up until 2002.

Carl was a delight to work with.

He had a gently whimsical humour and a sharp eye for a cryptic clue in the crossword. He taught all of us the finer points of Welsh culture and told hilarious stories about his childhood. Carl was a fine writer with a deft touch. Carl was so happy and proud to be Margaret's husband and the loving father of Lily, Romy and Will.

We are all very sad and shocked and we are thinking of what a wonderful man Carl was and how lucky we have been to have had Carl in our lives.

Now as I was young and easy under the apple boughs
About the lilting house and happy as the grass was green,
The night above the dingle starry,
Time let me hail and climb
Golden in the heydays of his eyes,
And honoured among wagons I was prince of the apple towns

I know you loved that one, mate.

BAITUP (Carl):
Dearest "Cricket Dad", Carl Baitup, is the epitome of a cricket tragic, if we arrived late to the game he would be the first to up date us on what was happening on the pitch. His enthusiastic updates on district cricket games, state games and international games of cricket were just delightful. His knowledge of cricket history and anecdotes was amazing and entertaining, his helpful hints to all players was precious. Mt Lawley U14 cricket team will miss Carl deeply. Our thoughts and prayers remain with his wife Margaret, daughters Lily and Romy and son Will who we know so well.

BAITUP (Carl ): Our beloved husband and father passed away peacefully in Hollywood Hospital on 18 September 2015 after a short illness. Carl's courage, strength and generosity of spirit sustains us now and will remain with us always.
Cymru am byth!
Margaret, Lily, Will and Romy

BAITUP (Carl):
Do not go gentle into that good night,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Farewell to my gentle Welsh giant son-in-law, always concerned for others, never himself.
Love always, Anne
