To the Bender family. I only just saw that Carl had passed away. He was the absolute best OB around. I remember his telling me to sit up, and reach down and pull my baby out. What a feeling that was. A funny recollection, Acton Cinema was packed. Someone saw him and said hey there's Dr. Bender. He stood up and everyone clapped.

I am so sadden to hear of Dr. Bender's passing. He was my doctor from age 18 until he retired. He delivered both of my daughters at Emerson. The most gentle, caring and kind doctor. One of the best! My condolences to his family!

Remembering Dr. Bender for his kindness, gentleness and humor. He did not deliver my two sons, but he was my Gyn for approximately 20 years. He always updated me on his daughters, whom he loved so much! Rest in peace Dr. Bender.

Very sad to learn of Dr. Bender´s passing. He cared for me while I carried my son in 1979, delivered my daughter in 1981, and delivered another son eight years later. He was an exceptional and compassionate doctor - reserved but also had a sense of humor which he would use to make me laugh when I wanted to cry. My condolences to his family. I´m sure he will be missed by many.

Something made me think of my doctor that I had from 19 years old through my 50´s until he retired. Just for the heck of it, I googled his name. How sad to read he just recently passed away. Many memories. The best being him telling me when my oldest was due. And, sure enough, he hit the mail on the head. Did it again when my daughter was born. He missed both deliveries though. With #3, he told me a date. As it got closer we realized it was on a Jewish holiday, and he would not be working. He told me he never missed three before, so....my youngest was induced 2 days early. Best experience of my life. As my youngeat was being born, Dr. Bender had me reach down and with help and support, lift my son out and onto my stomach. I knew that was his method whenever possible, but to actually experience it, was one of the highlights of my life. At my 6 week follow up visit, there was a bottle of champagne in the exam room. I jokingly asked if that was for me. It was! Dr. Bender had almost a shy quality about him, but kind, caring, empathetic, patient, and well educated. Professional. Dry sense of humor too, which I enjoyed. I´m sure he will be missed by so many lucky enough to have known him. Thank you Dr. Bender for being with me with for all those years. I´ll never forget your wisdom. You know, I don´t think I ever opened that bottle of champagne. It´s over 32 years now, but I guess it´s time to pop that cork. To you Dr. Bender!

Carl was my OB when I delivered my son in 1982, shortly after we moved to Acton. It turned out we had more in common than we realized....he was also my husband´s fraternity brother from SUNY Albany. Many laughs and fraternity stories ensued. Carl always took excellent care of me. We borrowed his traveling chuppah when my son got married. Sincere condolences to Barbara and the entire Bender family.
