Carl Bickelman Obituary
Born in Pottsville, he was a son of the late Galen and Margaret Dillow Bickleman.
He attended Pottsville schools, and worked for ALCOA and later served as head custodian at Minersville High School. Carl was also co-owner of B&S Concrete, Cass Township. He was an Army veteran and was stationed in France during the Korean Conflict.
He was a member of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, Minersville. He was also the oldest life member of South Cass Citizens Fire Company, having formerly held the offices of president and trustee. He also coached Little League and Teener League teams sponsored by the fire company.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Ryan John Bickelman, Oct. 19, 1991; two brothers, George and Albert Bickleman; a sister, Mary Lou Rogers.
Carl is survived by his wife of 61 years, the former Mary Depsky; two sons, John Bickelman (spouse, Diane), Friedensburg, and Joseph Bickelman (spouse, Lisa), Pottsville; six grandchildren, Jillian and Kirsten Bickelman, Melissa Giuffre (spouse, Giuseppe), Joe and Joshua Bickelman; four great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Alexa, Max and Luke Giuffre; sister, Sara Jane Fogel, Schuylkill Haven; nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call from 6 to 10:15 a.m. Friday at Dutcavich Funeral Home, 200 Sunbury St., Minersville. Requiem Divine Liturgy will be held at 11 a.m. in St. Nicholas Church, 415 Front St., Minersville. Interment will be in St. Nicholas Cemetery, Branch Township. Contributions can be made to the St. Nicholas Church Memorial Fund or to the South Cass Citizens Fire Company, 14 Water Lane, Pottsville. Visit www.dutcavich.com.
