Dear Decarlo Family,
My family and I were so sorry to hear of Carl's passing. He had been cutting my son's hair since he was a little boy and never failed to make Matt(my son) laugh. In fact Matt who no longer lives at home called me on the 23rd and told me about Carl. He was very upset and told me what a great guy Carl was. We are at the little plaza where he had his shop almoat everyday and not to see Carls smiling face and warm wave will be so sad.
Our condolences and heartfelt prayers go out to his family.

Mary, Carl Jr., and Chrissanne,
My name is Helen Rogers and my husband B.J. and I were shocked to learn today that Carl has died. I met Carl when I took my son for one of his first haircuts. He has watched as we now have four children all together. He has cut my husbands hair for years also. I wish I could put into words how kind your husband/dad was to us. He was a shining star in our life. Good conversation, good laughter and such a caring person. There aren't many people that can instantly touch your life, but Carl was one of them. We talked recipes, what was going on in our families and just to see his smile made my day. We will always miss him in our life. He touched our life more than we can tell you. God Bless You and know that our prayers are with you in this time of sadness. Our family loved Carl, he will be so missed.
Blessings,
Mrs. Helen Rogers & Family

Carl was more than my barber, he was a friend, a mentor and an inspiration! He was also a good buddy to my son Liam who received his first tootsie roll from "Mr. Carl" and hasn't stopped eating them since!
I learned a lot from Carl, never be afraid to follow my dreams, enjoy life to its fullest and work hard. He also shared his passion for his great family, his pride showed in his words as well as the many pictures in his shop.
I will miss the trips to Carl's to get my haircut or to catch up on what is going on in my old hometown, but I will mostly miss just spending time with an old friend.
Although he was taken too soon, I am sure that he is in a better place catching up on gossip with my grandmother and the many friends that went before him.
God has blessed your family with a wonderful son, husband and father and the world with a wonderful man and friend.

DeCarlo family,
My condolences on your loss. My fathaer has had his hair cut by Carl for as long as I can remember. My brother had his first haircut by him when his shop was still on the Northside of Pgh. I will always remember his great sense of humor and his contagious belly laugh.

Mary, Carl Jr., and Chrissanne,
I was one of Carl's customers for many years. We had many laughs as we discussed local and national politics, sports, etc. It was fun to go and see Carl. Mary, I never met you but he often spoke fondly of you. I met Carl Jr. a few times down at the shop and you could how proud he was of his son. Chrisanne, my wife Sara and sister Dee teach at WA, and they have often told me about Carl's lovely daughter. Carl was just a good guy and I extend my sympathy to your loss. I can't believe it. May God be with you in this period where you adjust to life without him. He was just a good guy.
Bless you,
Dan Augustin

Carl, Chris, and Mrs. DeCarlo, I am at a loss for words. Mr. DeCarlo often reminded me of my father, and I know Carl shared a great relationship with him. He was always engaging in conversation, and very enjoyable to talk with. I miss his "standard greeting" when I answered the phone at the fire department (Ricciuti? This is DeCarlo....is DeCarlo there???) Carl and Chris, I know he was very proud of both of you - not only did he tell me so on several occasions, but he beamed whenever the conversation turned to his children. You have to take comfort in that he lived a good life, didn't suffer in passing, and is in a better place now. God bless.
