Carl Joseph Finney Jr.

Carl Joseph ”Joey” Finney Jr., 66, of China Grove, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 6, 2021. Born October 9, 1954, in Fort Hood, TX, a son to Margorie Farmer Register, and the late Carl Joseph Finney Sr. In addition to his father Joey is preceded in death by his step son Kenneth Harrelson. Joey was a graduate of AL Brown High school, and spent his career as a truck driver. He was a member of Sloan Lake Community Church, where he enjoyed attending services. Joey loved to fish, cook and play BINGO. He loved to cheer on the Panthers and watch game shows. Western movies were his favorite and loved all things John Wayne. Most of all he loved his family, his family was everything to him. Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 40 years, Kathleen Gilreath Finney; son, Joe Finney (Alaina); daughters, Joni Hedrick, Paula Harrelson (Michael McKeever), Sonya Graham (Wyatt); Six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and his mother Marjorie Farmer Register and brothers Dean Finney (Jill) and Randy Finney. He will be deeply missed. Arrangements: Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 9, 2021 from 6:00- 8:00 P.M. at Sloan Lake Community Church in China Grove. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. with Dr. Zack Sizemore and Sam Hopkins officiating. Interment will immediately follow at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove. Memorial: In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Joey's name to the Sloan Lake Community Church- 140 Glory Road, China Grove, NC 28023.
