Rest in Peace Uncle Carl. One of the best modern day story tellers to ever do it!

Carl, we shared a love for Chicago like no other, big bro. I plan to keep my feet in the streets of our beautiful city as long as I can, living up to your example. As I told you many times before, I admire the run you gave life. But then who would expect less from someone who's so often said, "I'm Carl Kelly, dammit!" Big bro, if I had two hearts, I couldn't have loved you any more. I'll be looking up. You look down. Until we meet again, Carl James Kelly! XOXO

I Shall Think of You

(Dedicated to big brother Carl and all our family
he now joins in Everlasting Life)

When the full moon rises gracefully into the night sky,
-A wondrous occurrence from the Almighty up high-
And moonlight floods into my room
I shall think of you, and gladness will replace my gloom.

When the sun beams down on a breezy summer day
I shall be warmed by your presence in each sun ray.
When robins chirp a cheerful song,
I shall smile up to you and remain forever strong.

As autumn leaves turn shades of orange, scarlet and brown,
I shall think of you as the sun goes down.
When leaves crunch beneath my feet at dusk in the countryside,
It will be joy, not sadness which makes me teary-eyed.

I shall tuck you away deep within my heart.
You and I, my heavenly family, will never be apart.
For all things beautiful that come from above,
You are a part of that through God´s mercy and His love.

Another one of my finest memories of Carl was when we were in grammar school. At lunchtime, he would sit quietly and wait for me to pass out the lunch from the brown paper bag per Liz request. Carl also loved to go hunting and fishing with Sam and the older guys. He referred to himself as the "Lead Mule"
because he was the oldest. so now I guess I have to step up to the plate. I´m sure I can´t feel his shoes but I´ll do my best. Whenever we would have a conversation, he usually would ask the question "Sister, remember when it was just me and you? just me and you" and of course, I acknowledged "yes, I do". I´ll always love you Carl and the memories will go on forever. RIP, your big sister Josie, a.k.a., Josephine, sister

What a blessing to have had a relationship with Uncle Carl. He let me know how much he loved his family and wished God's best for each of them.
I'll miss him.
Love to the family and may God comfort you during this time of loss.

One of my most recent memories was when you had me confused with one of your caregivers. You´d always call her sister or Josephine. when I was there visiting you last year in September she couldn´t wait to meet the person you kept referring to her as never calling her by her name.
When I asked you who was I, you laughed at me and said "you know I know who you are sister"

Well Cuz,  you and I called each other to say happy birthday every year, you called me on January 24th and I would call you the next day to wish you a happy birthday. Our conversation were brief, you would always say, "Keep in touch." At family cookouts,  you'd let everyone know that you were Carl Kelly,  the oldest of the Kelly grandkids. I remember we were all sitting at this picnic table and everyone was talking and you would say, "Gosh darn it, we can all sing together but we can't all talk together." I'm going to miss you and I calling each other next month on our birthdays and year's to come, RIP .

RIP cousin Carl. I will forever remember you always saying, " I'm Carl Kelly, the oldest of the Kelly grandkids." I found some old photos from the 2014 and 2016 family of you during the Lighting of the Candle ceremony to honor our ancestors. We will truly miss you.

Hey Family. I'm learning to use this tool. So with my first comment I didn't finish my thoughts. I needed to say...When I was a little girl Carl would call Ruthy Mae (my mama) during the night to open the door and let him in. He loved his aunt Ruthy Mae and Uncle Bo-que and his family and his children. I remember Rhonda visiting us at our house in Robbins with Carl about 55 yrs ago.
One day as Carl, Elvin and I were riding to a funeral in Mississippi Carl told us that the scripture 2 Corn. 5.17, Meant that we will see you in the afterlife-eternal life. Read it for yourself 2CO5.17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. Remember Carl grew up in the church in Aunt Josie house. He knew about eternal life because he'd found Jesus as his lord and Savior at a young age and that when he knocked at the door of eternity, that Jesus would let him in. Carl has no more pain and suffering nor dying days.
Family Keep " Keep trusting in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding. "
I love you Family and remember Carl Loved you too

My first memory of Carl is when we went to Indiana to buy cigarettes. He enjoyed the ride and we had lunch together. It happened about 15 years ago and ever since we became good friends. He always gave me some advice about life. I was at his bedside the last two years and he shared with me precious memories. He will be truly missed.

Big brother Carl was highly intelligent, and in that regard, he was a role model to his siblings. He encouraged me to reach for the sky during my college years.
