I worked with Carl briefly in the late 1990's as worker-interest members at the Workers' Compensation Review Board. I remembered his support for fair treatment for workers in the tumultuous early 1970's when he was a member of Dave Barrett's NDP government, and I was glad of the opportunity to make his acquaintance. I found him wonderfully open, with a sweet, disarming smile and a sharp, inquisitive mind. His contribution to workers' rights will never be forgotten. My condolences to his family and friends on their loss. Sincerely, Joanne Fox

Very sorry to hear the passing of Carl Liden. My father, Anker Lysholm and I were good commercial fishing buddies with Carl. Condolences to the Liden family from the Lysholm family.

As I read these wonderful tributes to Carl Liden, of all his accomplishments, his dedication and passion in what he truly believed in, I am overwhelmed with pride. But to me, he was Uncle Carl, a warm and gentle man that we all loved and respected. The memories of the Liden family gatherings, his stories, playing Santa Claus, always interested in what was going on in everyone's lives, helping our family through the passing of my dad, his brother.....that's the man I'll always remember. Thank you, may you rest in peace.

Uncle Carl was an inspiration to many, especially within the NDP. I am very lucky to have been a member of his family and to be able to share such warm and wonderful memories of him from my childhood. He was greatly respected and will be missed.

Carl was a very respected and loved friend of my Dad, Al King. They shared a bond in their dedication to worker's rights and worked hard for fair compensation to injured workers and their families. They had many discussions around the kitchen table. We lost our Dad in 2003, and Carl was very kind to our family during this time, as he was always.

Memories of Carl will go on forever. Carl's accomplishments never went unnoticed in our house. Whenever Carl succeeded Roy was always the first to boast about him! (along with the rest of us!) He always made sure to keep in touch with all of his immediate family and of course the family in Norway and Sweden. He will always be in our conversations and thoughts and greatly missed.

I am deeply saddened to learn of Carl's passing. I worked with him for many years and have learned to appreciate the type of person he was. He was knowledgeable, a good teacher, and I learned a lot from him. Carl was a good listener and very kind-hearted. He enjoyed telling tales of his past, many of which had us all in stitches laughing. He lived his life to the fullest. Through his hard work, perseverance and dedication advocating for injured workers, he became very well respected. "Carl, you may be gone, but you will always be remembered!"

I look back and reflect on warm memories of Uncle Carl that bring a smile to my face. Stories of the family not only from today's generation but from many past. His praise for his ancestors was overwhelming and contagious. I feel privileged to have known him as my uncle and as a respected man among his peers. Uncle Carl you will be missed and remembered fondly always. Our deepest sympathies. Lora Lee, Nelson, Miranda and Mattias.
"Courage, my friends; 'tis not too late to build a better world."

I am surprised and saddened to hear of Carl's death. I consider him a friend and mentor when I lived in Surrey and participated in the NDP and so many other things, "thanks Carl".

I am deeply moved to hear of Carls passing. He was a GIANT in the Labour Movement, a wonderful human being, an incredible warm and sincere man and he will long be remembered for his dedication and compassion toward his fellow man. He was a great friend and I learned from his wisdom and life experiences.

Carl was a strong and inspiring advocate for the rights of workers, and injured workers in particular. We all learned a lot from him and were inspired by his committment. He will be remembered with great fondness and great respect.

A fine, gentle man, a dedicated trade unionist, and a genuine humanitarian. Many good years as co-workers in the Labourers' organization will be fondly treasured in our memories.
