To the family of Dr. Mastandrea
My most sincere and deepest sympathy. Dr. Mastandrea was a very kind, empathetic person. He will be greatly missed by his patients and co-workers whom he treated with a great deal of respect.

My sincerest sympathy to the Mastandrea family.Dr. Carl was a caring, dedicated, and compassionate physician. He cared for my parents, uncle, aunt, and myself. My uncle would never have survived 21 years after open-heart surgery without Dr's dedicated and diligent care.Dr. Carl was relentless in seeking a diagnosis and cure for his patients. He was a source of great consolation to me after the death of my relatives. When it became necessary for me to go on a HMO, Dr. Carl referred me to a wonderful doctor who had trained under him. When I first went for an appointment with the new doctor he reassured me completely. He said that Dr. Carl had briefed him concerning my condition and had told him to treat me well. Many times after my current Dr.would tell me that Dr. Carl had inquired about me. I daresay that few Drs. wopuld go to those lengths.I was very grateful.I know that Our Lord has promised each one of us after our death a mansion in Heaven.I'm sure that in Dr. Carl's case his mansion is lined with apple orchards. He's probably teaching a class on baking the best apple pie.May God give him eternal rest!

With love and deepest condolences to Alice. My only regret is that the wonderful photographer Carl never got to photograph a sunset over the Pacific Ocean from the Sea Ranch.

Carl was not only my Doctor but he was family. He was a companion to Alice for over half of his life. All of the members of her family considered Carl to be our family also. He was a wonderful doctor, gentle and caring man and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A void no one can ever fill. He is at peace and free from pain for evermore. Amen.

Please accept my sincere sympathy. I was a nurse and I worked with Dr. Mastandrea around 1967 for a year or so. He was a wonderful man and well respected. He will be sadly missed.

Dr. Mastandrea was one of my very first physician friends when I came to St. Francis Medical Center in 1971. I worked in Visual Communications and as you know Dr. Mastandrea was a bit of a camera buff. He shared his photos from Italy with me including the photo of him standing in front of a fountain. He looked like a movie star. As a favor to him, I copied a few of his photos so he could give them to certain people. It seems right after I copied those photos he got sick. I consider myself lucky that he shared his favorite photos with me. The one thing that sticks in my mind in our many conversations was the love he had for his family. He was so sweet when he spoke of his brother Frank, and I especially remember how he adored his sister Angie. His parents were his pride and joy. It was so nice to hear a grown man speak of how proud he was of his family. Dr. Mastandrea was a kind and compassionate physician and I am so fortunate he was my friend.

Dr. Mastandrea was always a kind and caring doctor. It was his medical expertise that we contribute to my sisters recovery. As a new graduate of St. Francis, I had the opportunity of working with him. There wasn't a day that would go by, he asked how she was doing. My prayers and condolences are with his family.
