Carl Moje, 87, died July 1, 2025, at his home in Charlottesville, VA from Lewy Body Dementia with his wife, daughter Marissa and son-in-law John present.

Carl was born June 26,1938 in Jersey City, N.J. to Hermine Renata Freyman and Harold Frank Moje. He was a man of humble beginnings and dedicated himself to working throughout his life.

Graduating from A.J. Demarest High School in Hoboken, N. J. June 1956, he then enlisted with the US Army Nov 1956 for 6 months followed by the reserves until Oct 1964. During his time in the reserves, he began his education in technology at RCA Institute of Technology May 1957 graduated in May 1959 and right after started with IBM June 1959 until Feb 2002.

Throughout his tenure at IBM, he held various positions, with his favorite being a CICS advisory instructor for twenty years. After leaving IBM, he served as an Information Tech Specialist III for the Commonwealth of Virginia's Department of Information Technology from March 1, 2002, until December 2008. Following his retirement, he enjoyed his remaining years in the home he cherished alongside his wife and their three dogs Gracie, Maxie and Sammie. They had started to travel, but their plans were curtailed by the COVID epidemic.

He was a straightforward man who took pleasure in his work and relished the opportunity to be outdoors whenever he could. He had a passion for anything with an engine - trains, particularly steam engines, as well as planes, boats, ATVs, automobiles and motorcycles! He also loved computers, electronics, fishing and guns in addition to a love for music, art, politics and studying religions. He was a man's man, capable of engaging in conversation with anyone on any topic at any time.

Survivors include his wife Althea Tina Scheman-Moje; his brother Richard Alan and wife Magdalena and his son Christopher; his bonus sisters Barbara Ferraldo and Marie Lanzolotta. He had three children from his first marriage, Marissa Ann and husband John Williams; Robert Andrew and wife Arti and their two children Karina Maya and Samera Lynn; and Annika Lee and husband Carlos Casabianca. He also had two bonus children Shannon and husband Joseph Ariaudo; and Robin and husband Roy Pritchard.

A visitation will be held at Hill & Wood Funeral Service, Charlottesville from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday July 9, 2025. He will then be laid to rest in Greenwood Cemetery in Brielle New Jersey at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday July 12, 2025, there will be an opportunity for those wishing to view and pay their respects at the cemetery starting at 10:45 a.m..

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to to either the Charlottesville Albemarle SPCA ( caspca.org) or to the Lewy Body Dementia Association (LBDA.org)
