Carl Moore Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Oct. 23 to Oct. 27, 2010.
Moore Carl "C.D." Moore, 79, died on Oct. 21, 2010. He was born on June 16, 1931, to his loving parents, Bill and Jean Moore of Saltville. Also preceding him in death were one granddaughter, Missy Heath, and two sisters, Cathleen Moore and Pansy Moore. Due to being drafted for the Korean conflict, he didn't graduate from high school. That changed in 1995, when he proudly earned his high school diploma at age 64. He enjoyed supporting Northwood High School's Lady Panthers. He cheered them on in basketball and softball, and he enjoyed scrapbooking their many news articles. He also loved to hang out at the Pizza Factory when it was in town, sitting in his car on the Rite Aid parking lot and hanging out at Subway. Having spent the majority of his life in Saltville, he lived his last 10 remaining years with and was cared for by his eldest son, Rick Moore, and family. He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. Survivors include his sons, Rick and Darlene Moore of Saltville, Stevie and Wanda Moore of Abingdon, Mark Moore of Saltville, and Scott and Rebecca Moore of Chilhowie; his daughters, Mary "Sissy" Elmore of Saltville and Miracle Coe of Abingdon; 12 grandchildren, Saundra Smith, Sandra Hogston, April Moore, Ricky Moore, Amber Taylor, Amanda Moore, Billy Elmore, Bobby Elmore, Joseph Elmore, Austin Martin, Raven Moore and Gabe Moore; nine great-grandchildren, Christopher Hogston, Stacy Hess, Alexis Hess, Chance Moore, Annie Heath, John Heath, Gavin Minton, Noah Minton and Alexis Elmore; his sister, Mildred Miller of Rosedale, Md.; three brothers, Roscoe "Calkie" Moore of Abingdon and Bill Moore and Howard Moore, both of Hampton; and a special friend, Jackie Colston. The pallbearers were his grandsons and great-grandsons. Funeral services were conducted at 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 25, at D.R. Henderson Funeral Home with the Rev. Benny Frye and the Rev. James Gentry officiating. Burial was conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Elizabeth Cemetery with the Highlands Fellowship Color/Honor Guard. The family received friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday prior to the service. Online condolences may be sent to drhendersonfuneralhome.com The D.R. Henderson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
