We met Carl 25 years ago when we were the new young family that moved into the house next door in Pennington, expecting our first child. Carl and Janet made us feel welcome from day one and treated us like extended family. Our two oldest children took their first swims in the Moslener's pool, which they let us use like it was our own. I have many fond memories of long talks with Carl at the pool, over a barbeque grill, or while we were both working in our yards, which we both did frequently. He was always interested in what you were doing and could talk about a wide range of topics. He was a tremendous help to a young father. He was a modest man. I didn't realize the extent of his naval aviator experience until I asked. This was the time when Top Gun was becoming a phenomenon in movie theaters, and I, like many young American men at the time, dreamed of being Maverick. Little did I know such an American Hero lived right next door. He will be profoundly missed by friends and family. I am glad he got a final bike ride in. I can still see him starting down his long drive-way in Pennington, as he did so many times, for one of his rides.
