Dearest Ruth, Eric and Lee,
I am filled with sorrow for your loss. When I think of Carl I think of kindness, good nature, politeness and an easy laugh. He exuded good energy, tolerance and positivity.
These words come to mind, first in German:
“Alle Menschen werden Bruder”
Now in English:
“All men become brothers”
Words written in 1785 by the German poet, Johann Christoph von Schiller. These words are sung as part of the lyrics to Ludwig von Beethoven’s Ode to Joy, in his Ninth Symphony, which was also his final symphony.
The Ode to Joy has come to symbolize, for all the world, peace and harmony,
Carl, may the angels carry you on their wings!
Your kind and gentle soul was so welcome in this world and will be missed. I know you are resting with the angels now.
God bless,
Trudy
