Today was the hardest day in my life dad..The only thing that gave me any comfort was knowing that you arent miserable anymore..This world as well as my life will not be the same without you in it..I love you so so much and so does most of the people that encountered you throughout your life..Love and miss you dearly dad..

Colinda I am very sorry for the loss of your husband. I will keep you and your family in my prayers. May your precious memories give you comfort during this difficult time.

To Colinda and the kids (I know, none of them are kids anymore, but they're always our babies): It makes me very sad and rather disappointed in myself for not knowing Carl was ill until it was too late. I extend my sympathies and love and hugs for all to each of you. BEST MEMORY OF "BIG CARL" (OK, there might be a couple): 1. Just his mere presence was all the safety you needed. From Mardi Gras 2000-2006, The Duplantis' house, family and friends were just a small sample of the people who were being protected by Carl and "his crew". 2. How funny it was when he approached "a situation", it cleared quickly. One word on the radio, we had 20+ JPSO behind him. When in reality, those of us who knew him, knew he was filled with an enormous giving and caring heart. He was the "best hugger" and always had a smile on his face. 3. He married Colinda and she was his perfect fit! She is an amazing woman and I am proud to know her... And makes the "Worlds' Best Shrimp Salad Sandwich"!! To Colinda and the kids, please let me know what I can do for you now. If you remember, I can make a pretty good pot of beans. I got your cell # from Garry, I will call you soon and come take you to lunch and bring y'all a pot of beans.

God sent Carl in my life when I transferred from NOPD to JP. He was like a big brother to me. He always looked out after to me and made sure I was alright. If I needed someone to talk to or ask for advice he was always there. When i was feeling down his comical sense of humor always cheered me up. He was an old school style Police Officer and one of the finest I ever met. If you needed help with a report Carl had the expertise. He made Police work fun, when there are some who make it drudgery. But most of all Carl was a true friend and was never fake, you got what you saw. And I saw a man with a lot of love. If Carl could come back now and tell everybody just one thing, I believe he would tell us, " Follow Jesus Christ with all your heart.". Carl, you will always me remembered and you will always be missed.
