I first met Carl when he joined us at Hutton's. He was older and more experienced than many of us but he was always good natured and generous in sharing his knowledge. Years later I called on him when I was a rep for a components manufacturer and he told me how Ed Silver offered him a partnership by asking him if he would like to have forty-nine percent of nothing.
Subsequently I joined a distributor that supplied Silver Automotive and worked more closely with him. Periodically he would call me into his office and bring out file of our invoices on which there discrepancies. One day I asked him where the other file was, the one where we had under-charged him. The reply was pure Carl, The day you start paying me to check your invoices is the day you get the other file.
He will be long and fondly remembered by many people.Heartfelt condolences to his family.
