I had the extreme priviledge of working with Carl on a number of projects at Canadian Superior and Mobil. He was my rock, so skilled and confident in his professional abilities and so giving of his time and capable of making work fun. Carl made all of us better by having worked with him as he gifted us with wonderful memories and a true sense of accomplishment. Carl's legacy as a truly remarkable person and co-worker are without equal. I miss him deeply. My deepest sympathy to Velma and family.

My deepest sympathy to you all. I have only very recently been advised of this very sad news. I also worked very closely with Carl at Mobil Oil as his geological partner for many years and echo other's comments about his quiet sense of humor and calm work ethic. He was a technically gifted scientist, a man of high integrity and a wonderful mentor to the younger scientists. His inspirational leadership impacted many of us at the three companies and all of us are better people simply because we were lucky enough to have Carl touch our lives. Again my deepest condolences to you all. My thoughts are with you all at this very difficult time.

Velma - I know that Carl's passing is a tremendous loss for you. Although we didn't know each other well, the strength of your relationship with Carl was clearly evident. What struck me most about Carl was his calm and friendly demeanour. He had a way about him that engendered a real sense of honesty, trust and reliability - one of those "like a rock" personalities that are in such short supply in our world. I was speaking with Dennis last week and he told me that he and Carl had been good friends since Grade 2. That, in itself, speaks volumes about the kind of person Carl was.
My condolences to you and your family.

I just heard about Carl and remember him from my jr yrs at Mobil. I remember Carl fondly and that stupid cancer has hurt too many of us. Although I haven't seen Carl since 1997 when I left Mobil, I still remember him for his kindness when I was green. Gille Montsion

Velma - so sorry to hear about Carl. We haven't seen you guys for a million years but always had great times at Cdn Sup & Mobil "back in the day". Stan is also battling with "stupid cancer" but we hope we have the same sense of humor that you have - helps to keep you sane.

I've considered Carl a good friend for almost 50 years, going back to high school and university days, and through parallel careers in the oil industry. What can one say other than that he was just a fine person in all ways. I miss him greatly. My condolences to his extended family who will miss him far more.

My deepest sympathy to Velma and family. I worked with Carl at Canadian Superior and Mobil Oil. His quiet personality, wonderful sense of humour, work ethic and friendship will always be treasured. He was an inspiration and wonderful mentor. I know he was a family man and proud of his children.
