Joanne, Laurie, and our whole "West Coast" family -
Uncle Carl is greatly missed here in Georgia, just as I know he is missed where you are. Each day in my prayers I would remember Uncle Carl and Aunt Florence, it was almost like one word, "Uncle Carl and Aunt Florence" and now they are united again. Not only are they re-united, but they are now re-united with Mom (Aunt Jeanette) and the whole Wheeler family. How happy they must be to have Uncle Carl with them to complete the circle.
My prayers continue to go out for you daily.

Betty and I will never, ever regret our journey to Grover Beach for the funeral. As funerals go, this one was as Uncle Carl would have wanted...a time of Praise and Thanksgiving to our Great God and Saviour who rescued and redeemed and did a wonderful and on-going work of Grace in the life of the man whose life and memory we memorialize and cherish. As a young student at Practical Bible Training School, it was my hope, prayer, and desire to be the kind of servant of Christ my Uncle Carl was who had graduated from the same school some 17 years prior to my graduation. He was to me and many, many other, along with Aunt Florence, the model pastor and wife team. What a day of rejoicing when we all meet in Glory.

I just want you to know that you are all in my prayers at this time. Even though Uncle Carl is rejoicing in Heaven with Aunt Florence and being in the presence of Jesus, it's always hard for his loved ones left here on earth, because you will miss him so much!
Uncle Carl was such a great guy! He was a godly man who served the Lord so faithfully for so many years! He also had such a great sense of humor! I remember a special time when he and Aunt Florence came to our church in Libby, MT to have a special week of meetings with us.
David and I loved that time with them! They were so much fun, and a great encouragement to us in our ministry. We had Bible marking classes in the mornings with Aunt Florence teaching, and then we had services in the evening with Uncle Carl preaching. We also did music together, and Uncle Carl played his saw. Everybody loved it! Although there are so many memories of growing up and spending so much time at their house (Christmas, Thanksgiving, & "just because'), I think that week they spent with us in Libby meant the most to me!
My Dad and Uncle Carl have had a very special relationship, too, and I know Dad will miss him greatly. It's wonderful that they have been able to stay in touch by e-mail the last few years!
I'm so sorry Laurie can't make it back for the service due to her health. She is in my thoughts and prayers, too.
Again, my love and prayers are with all of you as you say your earthly goodbye to your dear Dad, grandpa, g-grandpa! WHAT A WONDERFUL HOPE WE HAVE OF SEEING HIM AND SO MANY OTHER LOVED ONES AGAIN! WHAT A DAY THAT WILL BE!
My love always,
Your Cousin, Diane

Joanne, Laurie and family...
I think Suzy put something, but I just wanted to add some of my memories. I always adored the way Uncle Karl "loved" Aunt Florence. He showed it in so many ways at our family gatherings. The funniest thing I remember was the skit one time by the Brothers-in-law where they kinda dressed funny and Uncle Karl wore the wig. So cute and adorable he was...I also had a great talk with him on his last birthday which God has given me to always remember him by...God keep you all in the hollow of his hand and don't cry too much...he is doting on Aunt Florence again, you know...HA.

I have so many memories of the times we have spent with you over the years it is hard to narrow it down. But here are a few that come to mind. You and Aunt Florence let me stay with you when I had a summer job picking strawberries. What fun! When I was 7 years old you guys came and stayed with us while my dad was away. Mom made me go to bed early with the "younger kids" so I decided to run away from home. I put my doll and a few things in a blanket and crawled out the window. I was about a half block away and heard my mom calling my name and ran back home. The next day you were trying to explain to the other kids what I did and you told them that I had gone for a "walk in the garden". From that day on, whenever I saw you, you would joke with me and ask me if I had gone walking in the garden lately? I love your sense of humor and all the holidays that we spent with our families growing up. You will be missed but we are rejoicing that now you are safe in the arms of our Lord. Say Hi to mom for me, OK ? Love you so much, Your niece, Susie

Pastor Wheeler it was so great to know you these past 3 1/2 years. Thank you for all your wonderful insight into the History of PBTS and for your spiritual wisdom. You will be missed by me. See you in glory either when my time on earth is done, or the trumpet sounds. ~ Corey J. Adams

Grandpa and grandma Wheeler adopted me as one of their own many years ago. How thankful I am to have had them to mentor me at times, laugh with, and give back to them as I got older. I use to bring grandpa Wheeler fugi apples when I would come in to town. His face would light up. I can just imagine the look on his face when he saw and tasted the very best fugi apples ever! Best of all, he gets to share them with his beautiful bride! He was a man worthy of great honor and who served his Jesus very well! He is finally in the presence of his Jesus! I will never forget my grandpa & grandma Wheeler.
Love, Lauren
