I recently remembered Carla only to learn she passed away. It appears she touched many lives including mine. Condolences to the world.

I knew Carla in Glencoe, Ill., and at New Trier High School -- she was my brother's best friend throughout our childhood -- and she will be greatly missed. She made an effort to stay in touch with our family through good times and bad and I will always appreciate her love and thoughtfulness. I always thought I would see her again -- perhaps on a book tour. Good-bye, Carla!
