Carla Kulczycki Obituary

In Loving Memory of Carla Kulczycki

Carla passed away peacefully at the age of 46, with family by her side in Port Alberni, BC. Survived by her parents Gerald and Elizabeth Geislinger, her siblings, her children Kayla Kulczycki (Tyler), Krista Semchuk (Lance), and Keanna Sept, her grandchildren Tyson and Aubrey, as well as family friends Dean Sept, Sherrill Taylor and Lorraine Lebel.

Carla was born in Lamont, AB. She moved to Port Alberni in 1994 with her two daughters to work in a local mill. Carla loved being outdoors; camping, quadding, boating on the lake, and skiing. Carla received the nickname "Grandma Chicken" because she had a hobby farm that consisted of horses, goats, chickens, ducks and bunnies.

Carla was very involved in the community, she volunteered with the Sproat Lake Fire Department for 16 years, organized and played in the Wednesday Night Ball League, played hockey, and provided respite care for families in the Valley. In addition to this, Carla received her High School Diploma in 2013. Carla was the kind of person who would do anything for anyone, she was always willing to help, she had a 'will do' attitude and a very outgoing, bubbly personality. She could conquer anything.

Carla was diagnosed with Glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer in August 2017. She truly spent the last 16 months living and loving life to the fullest. In that time she went boating, to Mt. Washington for Christmas 2017, concerts (Guns N' Roses, Aaron Pritchett, Ed Sheeran, Luke Bryan) and she went camping for the entire summer of 2018 with friends and family.

A Celebration of Life including a Line of Duty Death Service by the Sproat Lake Fire Department will be held at the Alberni Athletic Hall, 3727 Roger Street, Port Alberni, BC on Sunday, January 13, 2019 at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family would encourage guests to bring a non-perishable food item for donation to the Ty Watson House, or to donate to the Alberni Valley Hospice Society, 3088 3rd Ave, Port Alberni, BC.
