Carlos DoSouto Obituary
Born in Fogo, Cape Verde, the beloved son of Jose and Maria Isabel (Spinola) DoSouto of New Bedford, he lived in New Bedford for the past 13 years.
He was a parishioner, active member and lector at Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
Carlos was employed as a barber at Tropical Unisex Salon in New Bedford.
He was a standup comic in Boston and Providence.
Survivors include his parents; three brothers, Carlitos DoSouto of New Bedford, Hank Teixeira and Henry Teixeira, both of Boston; many cousins including Hirondina Monteiro who lived with his family; his maternal grandparents, Joao and Sarah Spinola of New Bedford; many aunts and uncles.
He was the grandson of the late Maria (Santa) DoSouto and Henrique Pires.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 9 AM in Our Lady of the Assumption Church. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Visiting hours Friday 5-9 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.

Every time I got home from Tropical, my wife would ask "Did you get the guy you like?" Carlos was a professional, a respectful individual, and a friend!

Carlos was a great person. He will be missed by many. I met Carlos when I started taking my son (Brian "Bubba" ) to Tropical almost ten years ago. My sympathy to his family.

You're in a better place Carlos. I barely knew you. But, I heard all good things. You're an inspiration for all the young Cape Verdean newcomers to this country. wow a great human beign is gone today i went to Rossevelt School with carlos and i can say that he was a very kind,sensitive and noble guy and even though the years have gone by he continue to be who he was he never changed he was the same guy that i had met back in junior high a very great deal has been loss but he is in the hands of god and now god is smiling back at us because he has a great angel riding with him watching over his loved ones my heart goes out to his family

Carlos was one of the funniest up and coming comics in New England. I had the opportunity to work with him nearly every Sunday at our comedy show In Dorchester. We embraced him as one of own in the Boston Comedy community. Last summer Carlos auditioned for HBO's Def Comedy Jam at the Black Rep in Providence and brought the house down, I'll never forget it. We were always impressed with his work ethic on stage and his original and honest material. He was a student always asking for advice on how to get better and what he needed to do to "make it". We have lost a talented individual with a gift who was on his way in the game and we wont let his memory fade. I'll be shouting Carlos out at the close of my performances and let that brother know my applause is now his applause, my laughter is now his laughter. Peace my friend, I know you are getting your standing ovation now

ive know carlos since i was in the 6th grade nd now im a jr in high school.. he was always happy nd cheerfull..i jus cant believe that he's gone..the funny thing is i stopped goin 2 tropical once jon left but i stopped in there the other day..nd im jus glad that i got 2 see him 1 last time..god bless and r.i.p.
