Carlotte Gordy Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 30, 2025.
Carlotte Fawn Buttrill Gordy was born December 24, 1942, in Clovis, New Mexico to Carl E Buttrill Sr. and Fawn Ray Buttrill. Carlotte grew up moving frequently around southeast New Mexico and west Texas due to her father's many transfers with El Paso Natural Gas. During her teen years, the family was transferred to the Four Corners region of Northwest New Mexico. There, she made her home and raised three daughters, Dona, Diana and Michelle Stiles. In 1981, she and her husband, Paul Gordy Sr., purchased 550 Truck & Auto Salvage. They operated the business together until 1999 when they retired to Lake Havasu City, Arizona.

Paul and Carlotte enjoyed boating on Lake Havasu and the Parker River. During the hot Arizona summers, they retreated to their cabin in Chama, New Mexico. Many Thanksgiving and Christmas celebrations were also enjoyed at the cabin.

In her retired years, quilting became Carlotte's passion. Her quilts were beautiful. Many "Ma" quilts will remain treasured by friends and family members.

After Paul's death, Carlotte relocated to Arcadia, Oklahoma in January of 2024. She spent her last years surrounded by family in her home on the farm.

Carlotte is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Edward Gordy, Sr.; parents Carl and Fawn Buttrill; granddaughter Nicole Fawn Lynch and great-granddaughter Kenadi Woods.

Carlotte is survived by daughter Dona (Curtis) Lynch; daughter Di (Kelly) McClellan; daughter Michelle (Steve) Winters; Stepson Paul (Nancy) Gordy Jr; stepson Jeff (Mary) Gordy; stepdaughter Regina (Dave) Crunden; brother Walter (Gwen) Buttrill; brother Carl E. (Joan) Buttrill Jr. and sister Natha Dean Buttrill.

A celebration of Carlotte's life will be held in Arcadia, Oklahoma on Sunday, October 26th at 1:30pm for friends and family. She will be laid to final rest with her granddaughter and great-granddaughter in the Bloomfield Cemetery in Bloomfield, NM.
