Carol Bailey Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 15, 2024.
Carol Marie Bailey (Morse) passed away on March 25, 2024, in Austin, TX, at the age of 93. She was born on December 19, 1930, in Owatonna, MN to William and Alvina Morse.

She was a graduate of Winona High School and Winona State in 1952. After college, Carol worked for many years as a physical education and health teacher, first in southeastern Minnesota. Then, after getting married to Robert in 1954, she moved to Duluth and taught at East Jr High and Woodland Jr High.

Carol was also actively involved in various organizations such as the Women's Club of Duluth. She served as President of AAUW from 1988-1990 and was an Honorary Lifetime Member. She was also a member of the League of Women Voters.

Carol enjoyed traveling around the country and overseas. She was an excellent bridge player. She loved the outdoors, especially bike riding and taking up cross country skiing back in the early 70's before there were any trails in town. She was a great social organizer and was always ready for a party. Carol had a toughness about her that was well respected even towards the end of her life.

Carol is survived by her son Brian Bailey, daughter-in-law Marge Bailey, her sister Marge Richter and children Joan (Mike), Tom (Ellen) and Tim (Barb), brother and sister-in-law Bill and Jo Ann Morse and their children, Bill, Ron and Terri, sister and brother-in-law Linda and Clay Ward and their children, Ann and Scott. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Bob Bailey, brother-in-law Ron Richter, and sister and brother-in-law Kathy and Bill Volkman.

Contributions can be made to the Women's Club of Duluth in Carol's memory. There will be a celebration of her life at the Club on June 6th from Noon to 4 pm with snacks and drinks served.

Carol will be dearly missed by all who knew her, and her legacy of dedication and strength will live on in the hearts of those she touched.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Women's Club of Duluth in Carol's memory.
