Carol Bartolon Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 22, 2025.
Scottsdale - Carol Bartolon (Rubik) came to visit October 4, 1937, and departed April 17, 2025. Carol spent her first 50 years in Cleveland, Ohio and came to Arizona to finish the book of her life. Carol was proud of earning her Certified Professional Secretary rating in 1975 and always enjoyed her working years. She enjoyed golf, dancing, movies and dining out with good friends and loved all the times she spent with her family.

She was deeply loved by so many, not just for her kindness and thoughtfulness, but for the way she genuinely listened and remembered the little things that mattered. She had a remarkable ability to make people feel heard, understood, and appreciated. Her quick wit and warm sense of humor brought laughter to every room she entered. Independent and strong-willed, she had a rare gift for making others feel valued, and her presence was a light in the lives of all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene; her sister Marguerite Elam; her nephew Michael Cozzens Jr.; and her parents, Louis and Theresa (Vavro) Rubik.

Carol is survived by her sister Nancy (Mike) Cozzens of Brunswick Hills, Ohio; three nephews; one niece; ten great-nieces and nephews; six great-great-nieces and nephews; one stepdaughter; and six step-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held for family and friends at a later date in Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Vista Del Camino Community Center, 7700 E. Roosevelt Street, Scottsdale, AZ 85257 or The Salvation Army, P.O. Box 52177, Phoenix, AZ 85072.

I remember when Carol got married. After the reception, we went back to Aunt Theresa´s house and my first taste of olives! I ate so many that, to this day, I really don´t like olives. I think fondly of Carol when I see olives!

My heart goes out to Susan and Dan and the rest of Carols family. I was her caregiver for a short period of time and I loved every minute I spent with her! She truly was an amazing, thoughtful, and kind woman. We would spend so much time in her living room watching all her regular tv shows (Matlock especially:)!!) I loved playing cards with her as well. I never met her family members as they lived in various states but she ALWAYS talked about them and I felt like I had known them!! She would always update me on their lives and show me pictures on her living room table and fridge. What I loved most about my time with Carol was just simply laughing with her. Carol will be deeply missed. -Paige R.

Most of my memories are of Carol in Cleveland. summer vacations in Cleveland were spent mostly with her sister Nancy and cousin Dorothy. But summer family reunions in Butler PA brought everyone together for food, fun, and stories. The times we got together with Gene were delightful and I was so happy that she found such a wonderful man to share her life with. So sorry to see her go but may she rest in peace. Amen!

We are sending our sympathy and love to you all. There was never a doubt of her love of family and friends and that twinkle in her eyes was ever present. She will be missed.

I only met her a handful of times and in those moments I knew she was an absolute force of a human. She was so kind and wonderful. She will be missed.

She touched every person she met and left an everlasting love of life and what matters most. She will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
