Carol Botsch Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from May 16 to May 17, 2023.
Carol Jean Botsch (nee Brodsky), age 72, passed away on May 12, 2023, in Sarasota, FL. She was born in Chicago, and spent most of her life in that area before moving to Sarasota.

Carol graduated from Southern Illinois University, and after several years as a flight attendant, she spent her life caring for her family and others. She will be remembered as a kind and generous person who always put the needs of others before her own. She had a passion for helping animals, the beach, and spending time with her family and friends. She fully embraced her role as "Mom" and never missed a recital, concert, competition, performance, game, ceremony, or any other event that was important to her daughters. She was smart and witty, with a great sense of humor and a contagious laugh that will forever be missed.

She is survived by her loving husband, Mike, and her two daughters, Katie (Paul) Nowicki and Allison (Brian) Sims. Carol was a devoted grandmother to Ryan and Will Nowicki and Natalie, Nora, and Audrey Sims, and loved by many extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Muriel and Eugene Brodsky, and her siblings, Barbara and Robert.

A Celebration of Life for Carol will be held on Sunday July 16, 2023 from 5pm-7pm at Reserve 22, Village Links Golf Course in Glen Ellyn; 485 Winchell Way, Glen Ellyn, IL 60137. Let's toast to the wonderful memories we all made with Carol! Drinks and appetizers will be served. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to either the Alzheimer's Association or charity of choice in Carol's memory.

I grew up in Edgebrook as a neighbor of the Brodskys, and I dated Carol's sister, Barb, for several years during high school and college. Watching Carol grow up in the 60's and early 70's was nothing less than pure delight. The entire family always made me feel like I was a part of their family. I last spoke to Carol about 8 years ago when Barb passed; then she and I exchanged a couple (too few) emails in recent years. The Botsch family doesn't know me, but I offer my deepest condolences for the loss of a very special person.

Carol, I love you and miss you. We always used to joke about what wonderful adventures we´d get in to when we got old. This was not part of the plan. We will be together again in the beautiful ever after.
