Carol Frazee passed away Dec. 3, 2008, at her home in Enid, OK, following an extended illness. Margaret Carol Zachry was born in Fort Pierce, Florida, in 1927, the daughter of Callie Bradshaw Zachry and Jack Collins Zachry.Soon after Carol’s birth, her father’s profession as a civil engineer brought the family back to their home state of Texas. She graduated Kilgore High School and attended Texas State College for Women in Denton, before her marriage to James Russell Frazee in 1946.As a child, Carol excelled in academics and enjoyed performing for audiences across East Texas as member of a dance team. Her mother, Callie, was always on hand at the piano as accompanist. Following her marriage, she dedicated her life to providing a beautiful and loving home for her family. She especially enjoyed reading, gardening, flower arranging, cooking and needlework. Traveling with family or friends and weekly games with her bridge group held many memories. Carol was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church, presently a member of First United Methodist Church of Enid, where she was active in Methodist Women. She also held memberships in both PEO and DAR. Her civic and business activities included a term as president of the board of directors of the Enid YWCA and service as corporate secrtary/treasurer of the family business, Garfield Furniture Co.She was preceded in death by her parents and by her brother, James R. Zachry.Survivors include her husband, Jim; her daughter, Pam Woolbright and husband, Shane, of Oklahoma City, her daughter, Jacquelyn Stengel and husband, John, of Holloywood, Florida; and son, Russ of Enid; grandchildren are Joel Stengel and wife, Kelly, of San Antonio, Texas, Scott Stengel and wife, Cristin, of Gainesville, Florida, Zachry Frazee of Los Angeles, Callie Frazee and Mason Frazee of Stillwater, Josh Frazee and fiancée, Wendy Arrington, and their children, Elijah and Kylee Frazee and Cameron Arrington of Enid.Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 8, 2008, at the Brown-Cummings Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Wiggs, senior pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Memorials may be made in Carol’s memory to Public Library of Enid and Garfield County with Brown-Cummings Funeral Home serving as custodian of the fund.Condolences may be made to the family online at brown-cummings.com.
