Carol Guse Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 25, 2018.
May 9, 1960 - November 13, 2018 After a two year battle with cancer, at the age of 58, Carol Ann Guse (Yost) died on November 13, 2018 in Seattle, WA. She leaves behind her husband, Warren Guse; her daughters, Karrie Cardiff and Korin Donahue; their husbands, Ryan Cardiff and Patrick Donahue; and her six grandchildren. Carol was born on May 9, 1960 in Seattle, WA to her biological father, Joe Henry and mother, Nancy Yost. At a young age, Carol and her two younger sisters were adopted by Richard Yost and grew up with Richard and Nancy in Lake Stevens, WA. Carol graduated from Lake Stevens High School where she was involved with the drama club, FFA, 4H, and student government. Carol met her husband, Warren Guse at a disco hall and they married on September 19, 1981. The couple first moved to Snohomish, WA before eventually settling in Lake Stevens; there they raised their two children. They were married for 37 years and loved to dance the entire time. Carol was dedicated to the Lake Stevens community. She spent time serving on the Lake Stevens Art Commission, Lake Stevens Family Center Board, Lake Stevens Boys and Girls Club, Boys and Girls Club of Snohomish County, Sno Isle Library Board, Lake Stevens Deca Advisory Board, and Lake Stevens Chamber of Commerce Board. Carol helped organize events such as Aquafest and Music on the Lake. After being diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2016, Carol retired to spend more time with her family and to focus on her treatment. Carol always lived her life as if she was cancer free. At home, Carol loved taking part in the nature surrounding her home, including watching the birds and mountains, and gardening. She had a passion for JP Patches, the Muppets, listening to Paul Harvey, and reading. Carol is survived by her husband, children, and grandchildren, as well as her sisters, Roberta Smith and Rebecca Johnston; her father, Richard Yost; her biological father, Joe Henry; and numerous nieces and nephew. She is preceded in death by her mother, Nancy Yost; and her sister, Michelle Henry, who died in infancy. Carol's Celebration of Life will be held at Snohomish United Methodist Church on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. All are welcome and encouraged to attend. Carol will be buried at Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to Fred Hutch Cancer Research Center.
