Carol Irene Martin of Santa Monica, CA, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 10th, 2010 in Scottsdale, AZ. She was 98. Carol Martin was born in Boise, ID on December 25th, 1911 to parents Charles and Hallie Keller. She was a loving sister to Clint, Ralph, Troy, Geraldine, Marjorie, Martha, and Dorothy; and a dedicated wife of 51 years to Raymond Martin (deceased). She is survived by her granddaughter; Melinda Chesnut of Scottsdale, and grandson; Robbie Martin. She will also be missed by her great-grandchildren; Hallie, Brian, Ian, and Justin. Irene Keller graduated from Kamloops High School in British Columbia in 1928. She met the love of her life in southern California, while residing in a common apartment building. Carol Martin was known as a talented business manager for several physicians in Beverly Hills, and won the praise of many motion picture stars of her day. She was the regent of the Santa Monica Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) for three terms, spanning 1992 – 2002. Her neighbors knew her as an avid bridge player and an energetic presence in the community. A memorial service will be held at Santa Monica First United Methodist Church, 1008 Eleventh Street, Santa Monica, CA 90403 on Saturday, May 15th at 4:00 p.m. Memorial Donations to Harmony Hospice (Scottsdale) 480-970-5300 and Verdugo Hospice (Santa Monica) verdugohospice.com 800-599-9930, will be accepted in lieu of flowers.
