McKIBBEN _ Carol Grant After a full and rewarding life, Mrs. Carol McKibben (nee Middleton) passed away gently at the Foothills Hospital on Friday, August 13, 2004. Carol was born in Aberdeen, Scotland and immigrated to Toronto as a teenage girl in 1940. She married Jim McKibben in 1948, and they remained devoted to each other to the end. Carol moved to Calgary with Jim in 1956, where she worked to the benefit of her community, including terms as president of the Junior League, a member of the Foothills Hospital Board and a committee member at the Alberta Children's Hospital. She and Jim spent seven years in London, England, where Carol served as chair of the Maple Leaf Ball. Carol and Jim raised two sons, Grant and Drew. Carol lost Grant, a Calgary lawyer, to cancer in 1992, but is survived by Jim, a retired trust company executive and diplomat, and Drew, a Calgary journalist. Carol is also loved and missed by four grandchildren, Chelsea, Kailey, Jordan and Miles, and by daughters-in-law, Sharon and Diane. Till a' the seas gang dry. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 20, 2004 at Christ Church, 3602 - 8 Street S.W. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Grant McKibben Award, a scholarship fund administered by the University of Calgary Faculty of Law (Telephone 220-4399), would be appreciated.
