Carol Pozo Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 17, 2021.
Carol Ann Pozo May 19, 1938 - December 8, 2020 Carol passed away peacefully at her home from a recent stroke, with her daughters by her side. She was born in Alameda, CA to William Linthicum and Phyllis Coombes. She graduated in 1956 from Capuchino High School in San Bruno. Carol was married to the love of her life, Donald Pozo, for 47 years, until his passing in 2003. She enjoyed a fascinating career as a registered nurse with Kaiser Permanente in Terra Linda for 38 years; beginning in the ER, ICU, advice nurse at the call center, and finally retiring from Employee Health in 2010. Carol and Don owned Don Pozo's Wine & Spirits in Mill Valley for over 20 years. They raised their girls in Terra Linda (1964-1987), until moving to their home in Pacheco Valle, Novato (1987-2019). In 2019, Carol moved to the beautiful Smith Ranch Homes retirement community in San Rafael, where she enjoyed making many new friends, going for walks, swimming, and watching the wildlife outside her patio. Carol will be remembered as a kind and loving person who treasured spending time with family and friends, telling stories, playing games and lovingly caring for her dog, Bogie. She was the glue of every community that she was a part of, and effortlessly made lasting friendships. Carol was known for being a well-loved Girl Scout leader, nature docent, thrift store enthusiast, mother of many, and avid canasta card player. Carol also enjoyed traveling and had a sense of adventure wherever she went. Carol is survived by her daughters, Cynthia Ann Garvey, Cherie Page and Cathy Pozo; grandchildren, Meghan (Eric) Lally and Shane Garvey; great-grandchild, Sophia Lally; dearest sisters, Joan (Ron) Crook and Diane (Jim) Cline; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Her generous and loving spirit, gentle guidance, humor, and laughter will be missed but not forgotten. Memories, stories and pictures of Carol may be sent to: [email protected].

So sorry to hear about our old neighbor Carol Pozo from Pacheco Valley. Carol always had a smile on her face whenever we saw her. She gave to her community as a nurse for many years. We watched her play with her dog Bogie every day.
We’re very saddened by this news today. Love to the girls!

I only got to meet Carol Pozo in recent years. At Olivia's wedding, she jumped right in and joined us for a game of cornhole! Her energy was so positive and infectious! I got to see her again on our way to Cathy's 40th high school reunion. It was a gift to know her, to see her smile, and to spend a little time with her. I'm sending so much love to Cathy and her sisters, and wishing you all comfort in your grief.

Carol was a beautiful person - I think of her as a friend.. She was giving and kind with wonderful daughters. I am glad she got to live at Smith Ranch for a while, I know she loved Pacheco Valley too and Bogie. I wish she hadnt left this world so soon... but, it seems she had a great life..She will be missed..
