CAROL RITZEL Obituary
Of East Pittsburgh, age 69, on Monday, October, 19, 2015. Daughter of the late Lawrence W. and Bertha (McIntyre) Ritzel; beloved sister of Laurette (Stephen) Bentz of Plum, David J. (Rosie) Ritzel of Monroeville and the late Lawrence K. "Larry" Ritzel; aunt of Dave, Chris, Tim, Joe, Anthony, Faith and Amy Bentz, and Mara and Julia Ritzel. Carol was a registered nurse for 34 years until becoming disabled, 17 of those years were dedicated to her private nursing practice "Supportive Care", which she founded. Carol's practice provided nursing care and counsel for free-will contributions or without fees. In 1985, the practice received one of the National "Heart-of-Gold" awards which were sponsored by Nursemates Shoe Co. and it was recognized in 1985 by Mayor Richard Caliguiri for services provided to the people of Pittsburgh. In 1986, Carol was honored by Nursing 86, in its 15th anniversary edition, as one of the 15 nurses whose service "Enhanced the profession and makes an important difference in patients' lives". Carol had been a Catholic lay person under vows since 1975. Friends welcome Wednesday 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. in the PATRICK T. LANIGAN FUNERAL HOME, 700 Linden Ave. at Cable, East Pittsburgh, PA 15112, 412-824-8800. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday in Sacred Heart Church at 10:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to Good Shepherd Parish, 1025 Braddock Ave., Braddock, PA 15104; St. Maurice Church, 2001 Ardmore Blvd., Pittsburgh, PA 15221 or to EWTN, 5817 Old Leeds Rd., Irondale, AL 35210-9948.

So sorry for your loss. Carol and I were nursing students together at Homestead Hospital. In our junior year we were room mates. Many good memories!
