Carol M. Salzmann, age 93, of Clintonville passed away Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Theda Clark Medical Center, Neenah.

The former Carol Mae Goddake was born July 4, 1921 in Bowler to the late Evan and Gladys (Cronce) Goddake. She attended grade school and high school in Bowler. On November 24, 1938 she was united in marriage to Morris E. Salzmann, son of the late John and Alma Salzmann of Shawano, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Bowler. The couple lived in Shawano several years until moving to Clintonville in 1944. In November of 1948 they bought Clint-Mar Supper Club, Clintonville, which the couple operated for over 17 years. In 1964 Carol started working at Hansen Glove Factory, Clintonville. By 1969 she was employed at Marion Plywood Corporation where she worked for the next 20 years. After the plywood mill she spent some time working at Mayne Auto Sales, Marion, until she retired in 1992. Her husband preceded her in death on November 14, 1991.

Carol was a member of Christus Lutheran Church, Clintonville, and the CLCW. She served on the church council, volunteered on the property and personnel committee, was active with Miriam Circle and is a former Chairperson of Mission Action. Carol was also president of the Clintonville Golden Agers for many years. She enjoyed playing cards, knitting, reading, and collecting recipes and recipe books. Carol's other interests included assembling 3D puzzles and building furniture to furnish her three story Victorian doll house.

Survivors include two children, Sharron Schoenike of Brooklyn Center, MN, and Wesley (Roberta) Salzmann of Wausau. There are 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren. She is further survived by one sister, Dejon (John) Polzin of Shawano, many other relatives and friends. Carol is preceded in death by her husband, Morris, a son, Morris "Morrie" Jr., and her brother.

A private family gathering and service will be held at a later date. The Beil-Didier Funeral Home, Clintonville, assisted the family.

Carol played a big part in my childhood memories. Always lots of hugs, photos with her and great times with her , Morris and kids out at the Clint Mar Club. My folks were very close friends and we shared lake and fishing memories also ! What fun.. I am so thankful I got to visit her in the early 2000's at her home with my brother Dick, who loved her also.I will cherish my memories of her and the whole family and my growing up in Clintonville . She cooked a great Fried Chicken and also Fish fry's out at the club .. What a hard worker she was! Thanks Carol from a little girl who liked being your shadow in the kitchen at the club and U always had the freezer stocked with popsicles and other treats!! Love and RIP..From Cheryl Halla..
