CAROLE KATZ Obituary
Died Sunday, March 20, 2016. Born in Pittsburgh on August 8, 1942, to Jack D. and Hilda E. Langer. Mother of Felicia Katz and the late Eli H. Katz. Also survived by her adored grandson, Ethan Geraghty; her sister, Judith Merlin; her brother, Larry Langer; longtime friend, Bernie Kirshenbaum; and many extended family members. Carole graduated from Memphis State University, now the University of Memphis, with a degree in education. Carole lived life out loud. She loved to entertain and was an avid gardener and cook. She cared deeply for people and animals and was proud to be a liberal. There will be a Memorial Service on Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at 2 p.m. at the home of Jay and Sara Buss, 1296 Denniston Street, Pittsburgh. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Arthur I. Meyer Jewish Academy of Palm Beach Gardens, FL or ORT America in Boca Raton, FL. Arrangements entrusted to RALPH SCHUGAR CHAPEL, INC., family owned and operated. www.schugar.com.

I sent an email to Carole as soon as I heard about the Tree of Life tragedy because we were in Hebrew School there together, and I was totally smitten with her.

Carole definitely was one of a kind. I did her computer work and we had a fun relationship. We both told each other like it was and I always respected her for that. I had seen her late last year and although she was dealing with some issues, she seemed in her normal good spirits. I will miss her. :( Condolences to her family and friends.
