I was very saddened to hear of the news that my Aunt Carol had passed. I am very thankful that I was able to see her one last time during the Christmas holidays. It is a time that I will forever hold in my heart.

Carole, was a wonderful colleague! I very much enjoyed her dedicated professionalism and her sense of humor. After Carole retired, I occasionally ran into her at the mall and always enjoyed the few minutes we shared catching up. Carole loved her family and looked forward to spending time with them after she retired. She loved and was loved. May memories bring you peace!

My sympathy to Carol's family in your loss. I worked with Carol in the Migrant Education Office when I first came to the Department. Carol was a straight shooter and a big help to me in beginning my career with the Department of Education.

This was emailed to all California Department of Education employees on February 16, 2005. I wanted to share it with Carole's family and friends.
I am very sad to share with you that Carole Penner passed away on February 6, 2005 after a long illness. Carole began working for the Department in 1979 as a stenographer in Bilingual Bicultural Education. In the Migrant Education/Amnesty Education Unit, she worked for many years for Jack Schaeffer and became an SSA. When the Amnesty Office closed, she moved to the Standards and Assessment Division where she was promoted to AGPA in 1996. She retired from there in March 2000.
Carole was the most incredible employee...so dedicated, thorough, thoughtful and insightful, and always very straightforward. She brought a level of commitment and professionalism to her work that was unmatched by most staff. Her skills with fiscal information were awesome and she shared those skills by mentoring less experienced analysts. She also had a calming energy about her that was infectious. She knew when to raise a question and when to let it go. She was a total delight to have on our staff, as an employee and as a wonderful person.

I Just wanted to say that I didn't know her all that well, and after seeing her picture I felt like I've known her all my life, and it seems like she had a wonderful, and blessed life, and I'm praying that the lord is with her. May God Bless her family, and their hour of bereavement.

I am so sad to hear of Carole's passing. She worked for me for at least eight years at the Department in Amnesty and in Assessment. She was the most incredible employee...so dedicated, thorough, thoughtful and insightful. She brought a level of commitment and professionalism to her work that was unmatched by most staff. She knew when to raise a question and when to let it go. She was a total delight to have on our staff, as an employee and as a wonderful person. I can still hear her laughter. I hope Doug, Kim and the rest of Carole's family will have peace and many warm and happy memories.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Carol's family and friends. I did not know Carol, but I do know how much Barbara cherished her sister. My love to all of you as you cope with this terrible loss.
