Carolyn Gladitsch Obituary

Nokomis - Carolyn Patricia Gladitsch, 84, passed away at home on October 26, 2024, in Nokomis, FL while holding the hand of Matty, her beloved husband of 63 years. Born in Brooklyn, NY on March 4, 1940, Carolyn spent her early years in the bustling city of New York, where she attended Erasmus Hall High School, defining a foundation that would lead to a respected career in bookkeeping and tax preparation.

Carolyn (Cara) began her career at Pfizer in New York City as a proficient stenographer before dedicating many years to the Bookkeeping Department of Monroe-Woodbury School District. Her commitment to her career extended to her evenings and weekends, where she worked at H & R Block during tax seasons, a testament to her work ethic and dedication.

Outside of her professional life, Carolyn was deeply involved in various personal interests that reflected her caring and vibrant personality. She was a passionate support of Christian Native Americans, an enthusiastic Girl Scout Leader, an avid camper, and a member of the Gourmet Club in Monroe, NY. Her creative spirit was evident in her sewing, making clothes for her children and grandchildren, and her skillful quilting that benefitted not only loved ones but also members of the military and families of fallen police officers. Carolyn also found joy in playing the organ at home and at Fletcher Music, listening to Johnny Cash and other classic country artists, and traveling extensively with her husband in their 5th wheel RV and on cruise ships.

Carolyn's life was enriched by her loving family. She is survived by her husband, Mathias Gladitsch; daughters, Patricia Denomme (Joseph) of St. Clair Shores, MI, Carol Anne Anzalone (Michael) of Chester, NY, and Suzanne Gladitsch of Rensselaer, NY; sister, Marjory Brown of Lake Placid, FL; grandchildren, Stephanie Anderson (Nicholas), Joseph Denomme (Jordan), Christina Denomme, Samantha Hajjar (Tyler), Anthony Anzalone, Cassie Anzalone, and Jillian Anzalone; great-grandchildren, Madeline and Ellie Anderson, and Benjamin, Daniel and Emma Denomme; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, John and Camilla McNeill, and her sister, Janet Speirs.

Carolyn's life story is not just about her achievements and hobbies but also her role as a cherished family member, a dedicated worker, and a kind-hearted individual who impacted many lives. Her legacy will be remembered and celebrated by all who knew her.
