Carolyn Johnston Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 14, 2025.
Carolyn "Carol" Lee Johnston, 89, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2025, in St. Peters, Missouri.

She is survived by her daughter, Julie Moran, and son-in-law, Mark Moran; her sons, Kevin Johnston and wife Kaitlin, and Dean Hazelwood and wife Gigi Healy. Carol was a devoted grandmother to Terra and husband Matt Stephens, Erica and husband Brent Hoevel, Justin Hazelwood, Katie and husband Jim Ritchie, Mark Moran, and Nolan and Finn Johnston. She also cherished watching her great-grandchildren grow: Ashlyn, Colin, Shane, Giuliana, Samantha, Cameron, Maxwell, and Phoebe.

Born in 1935 in the small town of Hohenwald, TN as the youngest of 5 children, Carol went on to become a successful self-taught entrepreneur owning several beauty salons throughout the St. Louis area. More impressively, at 60, Carol started a second career as a director of a spa and salon in a high-end retirement community. Carol will be remembered for her love of flea marketing, love of all sports (especially her beloved St. Louis Cardinals), deck dancing at the Lake of the Ozarks, a good game of gin, and, later in life, needlepointing. Most importantly, she will be remembered for her love of family and her joy in spending time with those closest to her. Her warmth and positive spirit touched all who knew her. She embraced life fully and will be deeply missed.

Services will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church 1355 Motherhead Rd, Cottleville, MO 63304 on February 27th. Visitation begins at 10 am in the church Vestibule, Funeral Mass at 11 am, and lunch follows at St. Joe's, Callahan Hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Society of St. Vincent de Paul. https://form-renderer-app.donorperfect.io/give/society-of-st-vincent-de-paul--archdiocesan-council-of-st.-louis/generic-online-donation

My dear friend this hurts my heart to write here. It´s not the same world without you, less warm and wonderful. Such a classy, fun, crazy "girl"! Thoughts of all the many amazing times we shared, I will miss you every day. Sending this with love and tears. Judie

She was so much a part of my family's life growing up, that I loved as if she were my Aunt. I will miss her ever present smile, her laughter, the way she made my Mom laugh, and so many late nights our families spent together.
