Carolyn Tabb Kelley

Acworth, GA - Carolyn Tabb Kelley, age 96, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2025 at Oaks of Acworth. She was born in Waco, Texas on October 21, 1928. She was the only child of Carroll Clinton Tabb and Mary Katherine Anderson Tabb.

She grew up in Waco, Texas and remembered attending the historic First Baptist Church there and singing in the children's choir. Later her family moved to Shreveport Louisiana where she graduated from C.E. Byrd High School. Carolyn received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Centenary College of Louisiana on May 29, 1949. After college she worked as administrative secretary in Shreveport where she met her husband, Herman Shelton Kelley. They wed on April 4, 1953 and were married for 53 years.

Carolyn was a homemaker and raised two children. Her many hobbies included being an avid and skilled bridge player. Playing bridge was a great way she met new friends wherever she lived. She was active and held various roles in her local PEO Chapter (Philanthropic Educational Organization) working to support women pursuing higher education with financial scholarships. She enjoyed art, reading, working crosswords and other puzzles, gardening, social events, entertaining and cultural cooking.

Her husband's occupation took their family overseas for a decade. Travel and living abroad was a defining experience for everyone in the family. She often reflected how much she loved every place she had lived and was grateful to have traveled and seen so many cultures. She was devoted to her family and friends across many miles traveled and many years lived. She and her husband relocated from New Orleans to Atlanta after his retirement to be closer to children and grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband in 2006. Her survivors include her two children, both their spouses, 3 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, extended relatives and a first cousin she grew up with as a child. She will be deeply missed and always remembered fondly as our Gmom.

The family expresses heartfelt thanks to her residential caregivers and to her hospice team. There will be no service and her funeral arrangements are private.
