Carolyn Lee Carpenter-Jandreau Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 28, 2022.
Carolyn Lee "Carolee" Carpenter-Jandreau gained her tie-dyed angel wings surrounded by loved ones on July 8, 2022 at Lake City Medical Center after a brief illness. She was 77 years old.

Carolee's life would seem short to many, but to those of us who were blessed to know and love her understand that her existence and the imprint she left on our hearts exceed the quantity of time she stayed here. She may have had some struggles but she lived live to the fullest and enjoyed every minute of it on her own terms. She was the oldest of 3 daughters born on March 19, 1945 in Tyler, Minnesota to Bruce and Jeanette Carpenter. She had a strong and rebellious spirit who loved horses and dancing to the beat of her own drum barefooted and in blue jeans. Upon graduating Riveria Beach High School in 1963 she got a "real Job" and later fell in love almost instantly with Robert L. Jandreau III they married in 66'. Two kids and a few years later she became a Licensed General Contractor where she along with Robert built and ran the family owned business Robert Jandreau & Son Marine Construction until 1989 when she and Robert divorced. After 45 years of life doing what someone else wanted her to do and be, she moved to a little cabin nestled in a 5 acre woods in North Central Florida with her daughter Wendy. She now had a chance to do what she wanted to do for a living... her motto was "Do what you love and the money will follow." She became a talented self taught mixed media artist whose artwork was sold at numerous shops and galleries including the Smithsonian Musuem of the American Indian in Washington DC and she was a longtime member of the Gainesville Artisan's Guild in Gainesville, FL. She volunteered with many organizations including North Central FL Hospice and The Arts and Medicine Program at Shand's Hospital. She offered art & craft classes to kids and adults and enjoyed sharing her talents with others. She had a green thumb and despite being disabled she had a large container garden and mini farm/homestead. She enjoyed being outside on her scooter spending time with her critters, sharing eggs and veggies with friends and neighbors.

Not a day went by that Carolee didn't talk about how much her children Bobby (Gina) Jandreau, Wendy (Shawn) Rozier. Grandchildren Justin (Lacey) Jandreau, Mason (Paige) Jandreau, Ashten (Steven) Andrews, Paxton Rozier. Great Grandchildren Hunter, Jake, Harlie & Savannah meant to her. Her family was arguably her most important achievement in life. She is also survived by her sister Deb (Stan) Bailey and niece Jessica Morris. She was a bright star in this often difficult world and will be missed by countless friends, family members and her 2 dogs Razzy & Trudie.

Carolee joins her parents Bruce & Jean Carpenter, sister Kathryn Morris, the love of her life Robert L. and an angel grand baby in heaven. We should remind ourselves that while this is the end of Carolee's physical life on earth it's the beginning of an eternal & beautiful journey.
